GTG Question: Why do you NOT attend them?

For all of you guys that have GTG's in your areas, and have not attended, what is the reason for it?

My local has one once a month. They keep it simple and easy to get to, usually in an area between where everyone is. When i posted more on my local I would have loved to have gone to at least one. But, HrParker went to all of them and i truly believe i would not have been able to get through the night without punching her in the face. Just being honest. Although, i think that if i did punch her, she wouldve came on here and asked everyones advice on how to react first.  

What are your reasons, if any, for not going (if thats the case)?

I once was going to get to meet up with Mery, but something came up in the short window of time that she had available...and I used to be active on the Houston board, but I'm not anymore...so I don't go to the GTGs for Houston. But I was going to go to a few when I did post there, but it was never a convenient day.

However, I would go to a GTG with Eeners if there was one local enough. I really want to go to the Canadian one to meet my lovely Nebb, but I can't afford that.

NUGGET THAT IS A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT. It's because Noodle thinks I'm going to make you into a human skin suit.

And I'm not interested in stuff that goes on on my local. If there was a massive E get together in town, I'd for sure go.

Most of the GTGs for my local board are either 1/2 price margaritas/happy hour/insert your favorite alcoholic drink here.  Either that or karaoke.  I'm not a fan of either and I don't want to be the only person not enjoying themselves, or the one that brings everyone else down.

Meh, I don't feel like I know anyone well enough to go.  I'd like to go but I would sort of feel like I was inviting myself, you know?

I planned to go to the Chicago one, but couldn't afford it.  If it were held in the fall or later, I'd definitely go.  And quotequeen, I wasn't exactly invited, but there was a general "chicago gtg" post and I asked for more information, which poli provided in a pm.

If there were one for this board or for a few other boards within driving distance, I'd love to go.  I've met one person from the board and she is delightful.  I hope to meet at least a couple of others later in the summer because we're in the same general area. 

I wouldn't go to a month or local board gtg because I don't generally like the people (with a few notable exceptions) on there.

That is true that Jess and I never got our schedules coordinated. Sadness.

I've been to one for the E girls and one for the October '10 board. I haven't been to any for my local because 1) I don't post there as much and I'm not as interested and 2) when they had them, I had stuff going on. I think one was actually the weekend I was in Houston. Oh, and one was the weekend I was in Buffalo. But it was a weird GTG - the girls on the board decided to throw a bachelorette party for one of the girls and it was... not something I was comfortable with.

At both the GTGs I went to, no one knew anyone off the boards - which to me, is a lot easier than trying to get into an already established group, as well. (Like my local.)

Well, the local board for Montana covers the whole state, and there is NO ONE on that board. Apparently, no one wants to drive up here either.
And like AndyandHillary said, I don't really know anyone well enough.

I sort of live in BFE. I only hang out here, so a local GTG (ATL or the newer SAV board) is not an option. I'd planned to go to a mini-E one with sarabellam and bbyckes in ATL back when the brouhaha broke out, but something came up and I wasn't able to go.

If the timing works out, I'm all about the Orlando one in October when everyone will happen to be there, but it looks like we'll probably be there in September.

Generally, it just seems like timing plays a big part in why I can't go. I would if I could.

I would go to an E GTG if there were one in my area, but I don't post enough on my local or month board and I don't feel as though I've really connected with anyone on either of those boards.

If the PHX one happens, I'll likely say I can't make it due to logistical things with our car/driving issues at the moment, but in reality it would be because I figure it would probably be a girl thing and I usually need to have Buddy with me for unfamiliar outings.

I've been to a couple since we moved to Sweden.  In Italy, I was the only expat that was in the north of the country, and the other ladies didn't go up there.  We've gone to Copenhagen a couple of different times to meet different people.  It's fun, even when you know that you wouldn't hang out with the person all the time.  But maybe that's because I talk enough for 5 people?

I haven't gone to any on my local since I don't feel like I know anyone outside of the boards at all. I'm social, but I'd feel weird in a group of girls who I don't know but who all know each other. The MSP board is having a DIY gtg, but I'd just feel awkward.

Honestly, I just don't see ther point in meeting people from here.  I enjoy talking to a lot of knotties and like passing time in their company, but I have no desire to take it to another level.

a couple of reasons, I don't 'know' anyone enough here to do a gtg, I would also think its a girl out and I'm not too keen on girly things, thats FI's dept, which is really sad and third I'm either really shy or obnoxious.. I haven't found a good medium yet.
