Creating the guest list

Hello All,

I don't post or read on this board much so I'm sure this top has been discussed but how do you narrow down a guest list? The FI and I are working on our guest list and addresses to prepare for sending out save-the-dates and we are both trying to figure out who to invite and who not to invite. I have some old friends from high school who live in the area but I haven't spoken to some, more than in passing or at a friend function, in over a year. Is it okay to leave them out? What criteria did you use when creating your guest list?

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Re: Creating the guest list

  • Would you be disappointed if they didn't attend?  Do you have more than 5 minutes of conversation you'd like to have with them?  If you can't answer yes to both, I wouldn't invite them.

  • I didn't bother with anyone I hadn't spoken to in depth in the last year,
  • What kind of wedding do you envision?  Do you want to celebrate with everybody, or would you prefer a more intimate setting?  There is no right or wrong answer to who should be on your guest list, as long as the list fits your venue and your budget.

  • just becuase everyone else invites the whole office doesnt mean you need to.
  • No, you don't need to invite everyone from work.  I'd avoid talking about your wedding at work to reduce people's expectation of attending.
