They're remaking the Karate Kid.

Daniel will now be named DRE, played by Jaden Smith (Wil Smith's son)  Mr. Miogi is now Mr. Han, played by Jackie Chan.

Hollywood please leave the classics alone.   Jaden is not even old enough to be in high school nor can he have a love interest.  This is going to suck so bad.  So so bad.

Connor Cruise (Tom's son) is in a remake of Red Dawn. 

I think there should be at least a 30+ year wait to remake movies from my childhood.

they changed it up, it's not really a remake of Karate Kid, the characters have different names and the scenario is totally different - for example, this time the kid and his mom relocate to Japan. I don't even think there is a love story tie in.

I hate to say it, but it actually looks kind of interesting.  The trailer probably has all the good parts in it, though.

I can't watch anything at work.  I'll take a look when I get home. 

I don't have a lot of faith after a number of horrible remakes though.  It's good to know that it's not intended as one.

I find it funny that with all the writers there are in the world, they have to take the plot of Karate Kid to remake.  there really isn't any  original screenplays out there?

And most of the time, the plays on Broadway are revivals, or based on movies, or based on books.

Can't anyone write anymore?! One of my good friends is a struggling screen writer with some very good original scripts! I promise!

Clash of the Titans, huh?  I hear they are also remaking Poltergeist and Nightmare on Elm Street.  They're going to CGI those movies to death.

Grease for the 3rd time in 15 years = fuucking lame

There are plenty of original works, but they don't bring in the big bucks.  It's sad, but true.  The community theaters that I've worked at consistently do Grease and Bye Bye Birdie and Annie solely because it pays the bills for most of the year.  It's lame, but it's what sells.  Unless America starts to get more cultured and care about quality art, it's all going to die.
