::Squirrly::

You said in Whits headboard post that you've made several headboards. Have you ever done a tufted one?

  • Awesome Dani! That is actually, exactly what I'm looking for. Grey tweed :)
    My problem is I want to use my existing headboard but I can't drill holes through it so I was wondering if I could do the tufting just through the fabric and batting/ foam? Then attach that to the existing headboard. Or would it bunch up weird?
  • Yeah, I put buttons on them to make the batting & fabric lie flat and not shift over time.  I never had a tutorial - I just invented how to do it as I went along.  To do the buttons, I drilled little holes where I wanted the buttons to be in the final product, so that I could put the needle/thread through from the back.  I put a short screw (not as long as the board is thick) in next to it, wrapped the ends of the thread around it, and finished screwing it down tight to hold the threads.

    Does that kinda make sense?
