Keep it Klassy, Fargo.

From the morning paper:

FARGO – An apartment tenant who set beer cans in front of his door to alert him to intruders ended up tussling with an alleged burglar early today in south Fargo, police said.

Police were called at 1:24 a.m. to the 2500 block of 15th Street South for a report of two elderly, naked men attacking each other.

Officers arrived to find the men – one in his underwear and the other fully clothed – fighting between an efficiency apartment unit and the hallway, Sgt. Bill Ahlfeldt said.

An investigation found that the suspect had entered the tenant’s apartment while he was sleeping, he said.

“The renter of the apartment had set up a stepstool with empty beer cans on it and set that in front of the door so that if anybody were to open the door it would knock all the beer cans off and that would wake him up, which it did, so I guess it worked,” Ahlfeldt said.

“He called it his burglar alarm. He said that he doesn’t really lock his doors, so he just does that instead,” he said.

  • I wonder if he gets a discount on his apartment insurance that way?

  • That was awesome.  I think you have the location wrong, though.  That had to be in a trailer park in rural NC.  It just had to be.
  • I'll be expecting my Dundie in the mail post haste.

  • The logic required to decide that a beer can alarm is more efficient than locking your door absolutely baffles me.
  • I bet it was more fun, though. ;)

But Nebb, Michael Moore says that Canadians don't lock their doors at all.  Don't tell me he's a liar.  I just can't handle that :p

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I love that it was reported to the police that two naked men were fighting.
  • Who needs an alarm system, or locks on their doors when the Beer Can Alert works just as well.

I highly suggest this man paten his alert device pronto--that's money in the bank right there.
