Who to invite...

Ok so I just found this out tonight.  FI's paternal grandmother passed when he was five years old.  A few years later his paternal grandfather remarried.  FI's step-grandmother has one son who is married and has three children.  He was wondering if we inculde them on the invitation list.  Now here is the catch even though this is his father's step-brother they do not celebrate things such as Christmas together. (except the step-grandmother this is her son so she and the grandfather celbrate with this family)  I have never met them. Should we send them an invite?  FI hasn't seen them in years as well.  I am not sure of the etiquette on this arrangment.

Re: Who to invite...

  • faternal = paternal

    That made me giggle, though!

  • I think it would be the right thing to invite them.  If you're not very close to them, they'll probably decline anyway.

  • I actually had that correct but changed it b/c I thought I was wrong. HAHA ooops thanks
  • I thought faternal looked really odd. I was thinking it was standing for maternal because for some reason that word slipped my mind.

I think it would be good to invite them but I would say it kind of depends on how big of a wedding you're planning on having.
  • When I questioned if someone should be invited or not, I most likely took them off the list. It's your fi's family so I'd say i'd leave it up to him. or if money isn't a concern .. I'd say sure why not if it will make familiy happy.

  • I don't think I would invite them, but I would probably ask your FI's dad for his opinion before you make your final decision.
