• Here is a picture of Oskie and G play fighting. Oskie's face makes me laugh.

  • Poor mkrupar. Is it just work stuff? I have been pretty down lately, too. I don't have any funny pics for you, but just wanted to say I hope your day goes better or at least the rest of this week is better for you. At least it will be a new year...yay!
  • Salt, it's so funny that Baby G didn't look like he'd be a super long-haired kitty back in the day (except for his old man ear hair), but he totally is and he and Oskie look like real brothers! He looks like such a hoss (in a good way). It looks like Oskie is saying "Mooooom!! I can't breeaaatthheee!!!"

TR, I love that pic. Every time!

Right now? Yes work stuff. Lucas is moving in about two weeks to MD, so there's the stress of that, but right now I'm dealing with some crappy clients.

I do enjoy Hyperbole and a Half AK. All of these have cheered me up. It also helped that I got to eat lunch. Full belly makes me happy. :-)

Salt I do enjoy your fluffly cats. I sometimes wish we had one, but then I remember the 4 dogs currently overtaking my house and think otherwise.

Missy - That's where he eventually wants to end up, but he got a job offer in MD so he took it. It's good though since my dad lives in Silver Spring so we'll be even closer to him than we are now. We'll eventually make it to TX, we're just going in the wrong direction at this point.

  • I get it. So do you plan on moving up there with him? Assuming you have a job that can transfer easily.
  • We have some needy guests right now. One family noticed DH giving special meals on fancy plates to another table. After a couple of nights they get pissed they were not getting the same treatment and demanded DH give them the same meal.

DH says "well it's frozen food that they made themselves back home and shipped down here, is that really what you want? I'll be happy to ask if they will share"

What the complaining guest didn't know was the other guests are Kosher. They made their own food back home and shipped it down. DH would defrost and reheat it and put them on glass plates with new silverware (you can't mix meat and dairy).

Moral of the story. Things are not always as they appear.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

I do, but probably not for about a year or so. I do work in a field where it's pretty easy to find jobs. If I stick it out where I'm at now for a while longer it should be even easier to find one as long as the economy keeps moving forward.

True Story - I have a friend that used to work at a resort and they were having a wedding. One of her guests had requested a Kosher Meal. In order to get Kosher meals they were sent to the hotel frozen so they could be reheated and served. The bride asked the manager why her friend had been served a TV dinner because it came in a little black plastic container. It couldn't be moved to a plate because the plates weren't kosher.

  • I am considering the same thing. I know it will be hard, but we did it during our engagement, so I know we can do it again. I am seriously thinking about moving back home in the summer to get a better paying job and so that I can go back to school.
  • This has made me laugh all day. I printed it out even. :)
  • I agree with PP. People are dumb.

  • mkrupar - i've got a hard drive full of stuff that makes me laugh. The field i'm in isn't funny or even amusing so I need a steady supply of joy. :)

    9 hours.. that's far.

I'm not surprised.. Most people have no knowledge of what it means to keep Kosher. DH (not Jewish let alone Kosher) is known has a Kosher friendly chef. All Kosher related questions go directly to him because so many people have no clue.

    Yes, yes they are.

Like the guest the other day who snorkeled too close to the rocks, panic and stepped on a sea urchin. He complained that we are the [insert major luxury hotel company] and how could we allow sea urchins in our bay.

Umm okay?? We are located in a marine preserve. That means we can not even fish in our bay, let alone get rid of sea urchins. The water is not even our property. Heck the beach isn't even ours (all beaches are public). DNPR would come down on us so hard if we even tired.
