Gift for Minister

We are having a friend (I don't know him super well) perform our ceremony. We are doing a destination wedding and paying his expenses, but I would still like to give him a nice gift. And i have NO idea what to get him! I hate to do cash but can't think of something nice to do for him.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: Gift for Minister

  • Personally, since you don't know him all that well, I'd do a gift card to a favorite restaurant.

  • I agree that a gift card would be good. Or possibly a gift card/certificate to somewhere at your desination?

  • What about offering to pay for some part of his accommodation at the DW (if you aren't already doing this)?  My uncle is my officiant, and we're planning to offer to cover his hotel room for the night before and night of the wedding.

  • I think a gift card would be your safest bet if you don't know him that well. Maybe one for a nice restaurant that he wouldn't normally splurge for on his own.

Unless I misunderstood, her post says she's paying for that already. And in that case, I'm sort of like...um, that's more than enough. But. I don't know.

  • I've only met him a few times. Fiance says he would take him out for a drink for his birthday. But he's the guy when we go out who always has just one drink. So I dont think a flask or beer mug would be a very useful gift for him.

You're right - I read right over that part of her post.  Whoops!  And yeah, in that case, I think that's more than enough, but that's just me.
