Preacher Issue

Neither my fiance and I had a real church that we went to so when I knew a preacher that I thought would be a nice and interesting preacher to perform the ceremony, we went with him.  Well, the last two sessions of the counseling (which took forever to plan) have been truly awkward and uncomfortable.  Plus, I found out that he had asked my mother why he and I didn't just go get married.  Now I've already had some issues with the ceremony (not the marriage but wanting to have a ceremony although my fiance and I are helping alot and alot has been planned through family business connections) so hearing another person who doesn't seem to support the wedding and he is supposed to be our preacher, like okay?  So anyone have any ideas of what to do or have had a similar issue of not liking their preacher after they started counseling?

If you are really not comfortable with him, then I would cancel. Is there a reason why you want a minister? It sounds like you are not church-goers, so maybe a judge would be a better option for you? We cancelled on our officiant (a minister at our church) because he kept flaking out on us and the counselling was way too expensive. I think that if you are unhappy with a service that you're paying for, you have every right to stop.

If you're not active church goers, just get an officiant.

In most states you can have a friend of the family, good friend or just someone you trust conduct your wedding.  In MA it's simply called a One Day Marriage License.  If you are not involved with a church, than find someone you love and is special to both of you to marry you.  That way you can make your own wedding, vows, etc.  In most states the only thing that needs to be legally said is, "By the power invested in me by the state of ____ I now pronounce you".

I would totally get someone else. When push comes to shove, the ceremony is the most important part of the wedding, so if you're not going to be happy with the person who is leading it, you should definitely change it if possible.
