Mother of the Groom's boyfriend

When the mother of the groom is being seated for the ceremony what should her date do? Should he be seated already, where she will be seated, or follow behind her the same as the father of the groom would if they were still married? Does it maybe depend on how long they have been dating?! Thanks everyone!

He could do either one.  Just ask them what they would prefer.

I read the title of this as your groom's boyfriend's mother and was confused. 

I think either already seated or following behind is fine.  If it's a long term/serious/the boyfriend is a substantial part of your and FI's relationship with his mom kind of thing I don't see why he shouldn't be treated as her husband would.

Whichever she wants. I asked my mom if she wants to be escorted by her husband or my brother. She said she doesn't care. So I'll worry about it at some other time.
