Second thoughts....

So here's the deal,
My wedding is at the end of June and we bought my dress a few weeks ago.
I'm having major second thoughts about the dress and although I do think its really pretty, I'm wondering if its the right one. I never had the "Ah Hah" moment and I'm wondering if that's normal or if I'm just freaking out ?

FYI : I posted on the Apparel/ Accesories board (whatever it's called) but I figured I might actually get some opinions if I re-posted here.

Re: Second thoughts....

  • You're just very, very normal.  Second guessing the dress is nothing. Second guessing your groom is something to worry about..

    Relax, you'll like it again
  • I've never had an "ah ha" moment with a single item of clothing I've ever owned, so I'm not holding out hope of having one for my wedding dress.

If it's a nice dress, and it makes you feel pretty when you wear it, I say stick with it.

  • I never really had that moment with my dress. I don't think I'm much help because sometimes I still think I could have found a better dress if I hadn't gotten so frustrated and sick of shopping, and I got married 7 months ago. I actually liked my shoes more than my dress.

I mean I really really liked my dress, it just wasn't really perfect I guess.

Anyway I don't think that's weird. I also think sometimes we have to remind ourselves that it is just a dress. You're going to look beautiful no matter what you wear, it's your wedding day :)

  • It depends on how you feel in the dress. If you feel like you look awesome in it, then certainly keep it. I'd mull it over for a while before I went out and started shopping for a new one.

  • I wish I could link you to a previous post.  This questions gets asked so often. It's completely normal and a lot of people experience this anxiety.

Do you have a pic of you in the dress or a pic of the dress?
  • I never had that moment.  I have a nice dress that I look nice in.  Nothing more, nothing less.

  • Don't worry, we all have gone through that. It's called post-purchase anxiety (someone told me) and a good solution is - DO NOT look at any more dresses anymore. What you have chosen is beautiful and you will look amazing.
  • it's normal. i went through it too. now i laugh at myself because i think my dress was perfect. try not to put so much pressure on yourself. it's just a party!
  • here is a picture of it.... it's really big and you can see the top of my bra because it was falling down. The random strap I'm holding up will not be there (we are actually adding a strap, just not that one). And I need to learn that I look extremely unattractive when I don't smile! hah
  • I don't know why its so small....I guess that better than it being gigantic right?
  • hba, people can click on the pic and it will enlarge.

It's very pretty.  I love the little cap sleeve.  Once it it altered, you will look amazing in it.  It's a beautiful dress and it looks great with your coloring.  Stop fretting.  There's no need. :)
  • I think it looks great and I'm actually kind of jealous :) It reminds me of the blue dress Grace Kelly wears in To Catch a Thief, which I kind of wanted.

  • Thank you your too sweet!
    That's definitely encouraging though!
  • I could only enlarge it about 25% but I like it. Everything looks better when you're smiling.

M was the only "OMG, this is IT" bride I have ever hear of.  I don't think that;s a common reaction but she's a clothes whore anyhow
  • i think its really pretty you're gonna look great on the day, dont fret

I think that once you have one in the right size, it's going to look gorgeous.

My dress, which I think was just the most perfect thing I could have found, was still something that I felt a little unsure on when I bought. Thankfully, I didn't have much choice given the timing, which worked in my favour as it was just so fantastic. It's fine and normal not to have an amazing 'oh my god' moment, and also normal to have second thoughts... the main thing is that you shouldn't try any more dresses on right now, and just wait and see how you feel when you do your fittings.
