How many hours?

Does this sound right?

Arrive: 4:30PM
Ceremony: 5PM
Cocktail hour: 5:30PM
Reception: 6:30PM to 10:30PM

Thank you!

Re: How many hours?

  • I think that sounds great.

  • Looks great to me!
  • sounds good to me.  Mine was almost the same only we started at 5:30 and ended at 11:30

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Thank you! I would like to add another hour but I think the venue may charge me more... I guess I'm a little concerned because 4 hours for the reception sounds short to me, but maybe its because I'm not going to want it to end? LOL

I don't think it's too short. If it's time to close up shop and you and your guests don't feel like ending the night, you could always head out to a bar, restaurant or something like that to continue the evening.

  • That is my timeframe too.  Technically the cocktail hour is part of your reception too.  I wouldn't add an extra hour unless you really want to and the cost from your venue & dj isn't too much.

  • Well, I asked him and he said not worry they want to make me happy. And then he said we will finalize everything 10 days before the wedding, but it's going to have be before that because of the invitations, so I'm stressing out a bit. I have time, but I will turn into a bridezilla if need be, LOL.
  • I've never seen an ending time on the invitations, so I think you're ok there.
  • Don't include an ending time on the invitations.
  • I think that looks good! And I think that once the wedding actually happens you will be looking forward to leaving with your new husband. :)
