Happy Thursday!

Good morning everyone!

I figured I would be brave and start the thread bc here it is almost a quarter til 8 EST and no one has started one.

How is everyone today? Is anyone up yet? Anyone ready for the weekend as much as I am?

Re: Happy Thursday!

  • I'm up and at work. Today is my Friday so I'm excited to start my weekend. I can't wait to go home and see everyone at the annual festival. This weekend is pretty much the highlight of my year. The only downside is that my little brother left for college this year and decided not to come back for the fair, so I don't get to see him until Thanksgiving.
  • I got a rude awakening this morning--tow trucks on our street at 7 AM. Apparently they snuck in and changed the dates on our old, three-weeks-out-of-date construction notices, and construction starts today. So we ran screaming out of the house without getting through any of our morning routines.

I'm sitting here in my office with no contacts, no makeup, no hairbrush, no lunch, no dinner, and no rain gear for the day. I want to nutpunch someone.

Seshat411 : Aww, that stinks. Isn't it amazing how when we are younger we sometimes can't stand our siblings and then when we get older we miss them? That is exactly how it is with my little sister and I.

Opalsky: I hope your day gets better for you. Man, I would be so pissed, too.
  • Good Morning.
I'm still nursing whatever sickness it is that I have, but we get our A/C installed tomorrow! At least thebedroom will be a cool, humidity free zone. No more damp bras and undies :-)

  • Good morning... I'm grumpy right now because I just dropped H off at the airport, and then decided to stop and get a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a mini scone at Starbucks. I realized after I drove away that I never got my scone that I paid for. Yell

  • Good morning! I'm ready for the weekend, too.

My mom is coming up tonight to visit, so that's fun.

This weekend is the last golf tournament of the year :( It's called the Lucky Duck, and it's not just a clever name. So, I'm off to small town North Dakota with 3 of my girlfriends to golf and have some cocktails. Should be fun.

  • While not nearly as disturbing as the penguins, we found out yesterday that at one point, the evil ex told SD that if she continued to act up, she was going to be sent to live with us.

Who in their right mind uses "I'm shipping you off to the French Riviera" as a punishment?! Heck if my mom had used that threat, I would've robbed the nearest 7-11 just to get the ball rolling.

  • KentuckyKate: I would definitely call them and have them take your name down so you can get it the next time. Those things aren't cheap. I almost got ripped off at Kohl's last night, but I caught it before we walked out the door.

lovethebeach16 : I know what you mean. Driving in the rain always sucks and slows things down tremendously no matter where you are. I hope you have a better rest of the day at work.

Definitely. We are 6 years apart, and by the time he finally got "cool" enough to hang out with (no irritating child screaming, taunting me or my cat, or being a pest in general as little brothers are), I was already out out of the house.

I took him to Halloween Horror Nights when he turned 14 (I had promised him this for years) and he got an impromptu lapdance from the Magneto character in the Bill & Ted show. That pretty much sealed the deal that he was an awesome brother to hang out with because weird shiit like that seems to happen to him all the time. And he encourages it.

Oh my gosh. My sister and I are 6 yrs apart, too. We used to fight and argue all of the time bc we were at different points in our lives for so long. Then after I got engaged and started planning my wedding, we really started getting close bc we can finally relate to a lot of things in life. Then I broke her heart when I moved out of state.

That's a good idea. I mean, it was a mini scone, so it was only 85 cents, but still- the principle and all that.

When H and I got married, my brother wrote us a letter and left it in our card box (he's 18 now). It was all about how he could see how happy I was, and how thankful he was for my H because he knew I was being taken care of by someone who loved me. That damn letter was the only thing that made me cry on our wedding day and it made me a little sad knowing that my sweet little brother was all grown up and moving away.

My family members are my best friends, clearly.
  • Opalsky -- that sucks! I'd want to nutpunch somebody too.

I've been up since 5 AM -- I fell asleep at 8:45 last night (I feel old) so I definitely got enough sleep. But I hate this rain. They say the weekend will be better, though. So I'm hopeful.

That was so sweet of him. Its amazing how a few years of maturity can do wonders to a person. My sister is 21 and still in college. At first she was a bit apprehensive/didn't know what to think of my now husband bc he was my first serious relationship, but now she loves him like a big brother. She knows she can talk to him or us about things she is going through that we have already experienced. She has told me so many times how happy she is for me and how she regrets acting the way she did back in the day. I told her that we all make mistakes and you just have to let it go and move on.

Well, have a good day! I gotta head to work now. Last day for me for a nice, long, relaxing weekend at home with family and friends. Whoo!
  • Good morning! I'm pretty ok this morning. Already getting depressy about H going out of town this weekend. I'm going to be out late tonight so I'll go to bed when I get home. I'll kiss him goodbye and won't see him until bedtime on Sunday night. I know I'm super lame, but this is only the second time we've spent the night apart since a little before we were marrie.d First time in our new apartment. It's going to make me uneasy.

  • Morning ladies! Rain sucks, H and I had a mini-argument on the way to work and I got my flu shot this morning at work. Which is nice because it's free, but still a shot.

I'm going to drink some coffee and try to turn this frown upside down...of course, if anyone has some crack that might work better.

  • Good morning!

opalsky and TR- wow, rough mornings all around. I hope it gets better!

I'm happy today because I only have one class on Thursdays, which means I can finally catch up on all the work and laundry I've been neglecting. On the downside, it's supposed to rain all day. Again. I swear, we don't have a real fall here, it just rains for 6 weeks straight!

[QUOTE]:grumble: morning. I think I would have done a better job swimming to work than driving this morning. The rain is ridiculous today and all of the accidents didn't help. It took me 1.5 hours to get to work which is usually 35 mins away. And I learned something really disturbing from skimming through Cosmo last night. Female penguins will prostitute themselves out for sex to receive pebbles to build a nest. That really messes with my sweet and innocent penguin image.

Can I get a F 95? It was horrible this morning, 20 minute wait to go 3 miles. FML.

And now my work radio isn't working so I am listening to static. ick.

  • Ugh. I'm trying to get over this cold. I wish I could stay home from school again today, but my Spanish class is Monday - Thursday, and missing it twice in one week would be bad news bears.

So I'm just going to throw a temper tantrum and stomp around my apartment.

Siiiiiigh and it's my long day. Class from 10 am - 5pm. One of them being "Professionals in Health" which basically is a 2 hr required class that teaches us we need to shower and not talk like a drunken sailor. /facepalm

  • Morning!

I'm sitting here at work and I'm trying to keep my eyes open.

I just learned from one of my bosses that when they switch me to salary (yay!) - I'm going to be required to work 40 hours a week (right now I work 37.5)... sure no problem, I was doing that before - but now that totally screws up the carpool I have with my FI and FBIL. *boo* and considering it's a 45 minute drive to work in the morning and another at night, it'll cost a butt-load in gas for me and FI to use separate cars to drive to work. :(

I'm thinking I might just end up skipping lunch every day and eat while I work, but ugh.

[QUOTE]TR- BIL told us about that but I couldn't remember the name. Thanks! Rosie - north or south on 95? I had to take a different exit today since a tractor trailer was on fire on my usual one. 25 mins just to get from the start of the ramp to the next road. And coffee really does sound awesome. I wonder if we have any creamer here.

And re: siblings, my younger sister was really excited when she found out FI was going to propose. He told her the day he was going to do it, while I was getting changed and ready to go out on our date. She apparently started jumping up and down and hugged him. Wish I could've seen it! I love her.
