My son is turning 12 in two weeks. I have no clue. I know that he wants a PS3 but with it being so close to christmas I don't want to spen that kind of money right now. I was thinking about getting one of those 10 ft. free standing basketball hoops.

My son is into nothing but video games and music.  He just turned 13 and everything (almost) he received was video game related.  How about a Wii game or a Game Stop giftcard?  Also, what about an Mp3 player (if he doesn't already have one).   If you're son is into the basketball thing, then go ahead and get him that.

It is close to Christmas, but why not ask him about it? There will be some awesome black friday sales. You could probably get him one for cheap if you go shopping at 1 am! Maybe you could get it for him for his birthday, then games for Christmas?

He has a PS2 ,  PSP, computer, games....etc. I wanted to get him something to get him out of the house. I know he loves Bball so that will probably work out good. Walmart has one for $99 on black friday.

I think thats an awesome idea. Our neighborhood has a bunch of young teenage boys and just about every house has a basketball hoop outside. They are constantly in use. My H had one when he was a kid and told me how much he loved it. So much so that he would like one now. I applaud you for wanting to get him something that will get him outside!
