[QUOTE]I can't do pore strips, they're too rough on my skin.  Then again, compared to most of you ladies, I'm ancient! <strong> I do love a nice micro dermabrasion, though.</strong>

<div>Twice a year, I do an 'ultra peel' at a skincare place here. They do one pass of microderm and then do a glycolic peel. It is not really much fun, but wow on the results. My skin is so rough otherwise.</div>

  • We are going to the cabin tomorrow, either afternoon or night. It's nice having a free getaway close to home but in the boonies for privacy.  And it's on the water so we have a great view. I won't get in the water or let H go in, but it's nice  to sit out and read or fish.
  • That sounds fun, MuSu.

Any and MUNI, very productive plans! Way to be! I am trying to figure out which of the remaining summer weekends we can do a little getaway and do school clothes shopping, preferably in Minneapolis. So much going on!

<div>The peel, is that the one that makes your face red for days?  I'm considering that about a month before the wedding.  Does it burn much?  The Micro feels like aunts crawling on my face, but it doesn't burn that much. I LOVE the results!  </div>

<div>Yeah, I just need to get organized. Like, get all my clothes sorted so I know what I'm going to wear in the morning, get my desk neat so I can find all the crap I need. We'll see if it actually gets done.</div>

Sometimes. We went out on Tuesday and H didn't catch anything, not the right time of day. But him and my Papa and little brother caught a bunch last summer when they were all out there.

<div>You look like hell for about 4-5 days, Lizzie. I pretty much just look sunburned. I'm going to schedule one for sometime in the next week or two. </div><div>

France, Duds!  We're flying in to Paris, then going to Lyon for a few days, then headed to Nice where we'll fly home from.  We're planning to do a day in Monaco, and maybe hit up Italy or Switzerland for a day too. So excited.

</div><div>Thanks for the info...I'll really, really consider it now.  I'll just have to schedule my make up trial for a few days before the wedding so that I won't be peeling and red for that.</div>
  • Oh, and the peel- I was a little red the day of,  but if you moisturize REALLY REALLY well with a heavy moisturizer, you shouldn't look like raw meat or get really peely after.

I did three before my wedding and it was an excellent decision.

In our case it's an amoeba. It's probably a completely irrational fear but I'm just not comfortable with it. Last  year my family went to the cabin, had a great time. That same weekend, my cousin (16) and her family were in the same river, but a few hours south.

She was dead about a week later from an amoeba that lives in hot, stagnant waters in lakes and rivers. I mean, she felt sick, headache and flu symptoms, and was just gone in days. It attacks the brain. A little boy in SC just recently died of the same amoeba.

It kills very few people each year (like maybe 4), but you just never know. And as hot as it's been here the past year or two, the water being as warm as it is, I just get really nervous now.

<div>I would think a month out from wedding day would be about perfect. It leaves your skin so nice. If I remember, I'll take a pic of how red I get and let you see. Everyone is different, of course. </div><div>

</div><div>and ETA, Oh my lord, Sesh. That is so hideous. I would NEVER go in that water. My heart goes out to you and your family. </div>

  • I'm jealous of your trip Mun1 !!!!  Have fun and AW if you think of it!

Speaking of dee cleaning, I'm going to tackle the rest of the house this weekend.  I started last week and got a bunch done, but then I just ran out of steam.  I really want to get it done tomorrow though, since on Sunday we plant our second round of summer veggie seeds.  I can't wait for fresh corn and lettuce and all of those good things.
  • Thanks ladies!  I hope we have a wonderful time too (:

Sesh, that's horrible!  And your fear sounds completely rational to me.

  • Hey, Muni, friends of ours have offered us use of their house in Asheville next summer. Are you familiar with that area at all? And would there be cool stuff for the fam to do?
    image
  • Willy, Asheville is AWESOME.  It's a very, very artsy town.  Nerdy Girl will love it.  It's also an incredible town for craft beer.  There's also the Biltmore House which is a monument to early 1900s opulence and greed.  It's beautiful and overpriced to visit.
  • Good evening!  How's it going?  H is home - probably until Monday afternoon.  He'll come to my ultrasound with me and then he's got to go to WY for the rest of the week.  My friend is still trying to put her little boy down to bed.
  • Wow, Muni, it sounds GREAT! We'd have to bring DD and (by then) SIL, too, then! He brews his own beer and is nuts about all things involved with it.

Is the Biltmore House the one on the Lowe's commercials?

    Now I'm all excited.

These friends also have a home on Hilton Head, where we've gone once and are going again in the spring. They are incredibly generous.

  • GAH! I love my dad but sometime he can be a fuuucking PITA.

    Whats up everyone?
  • Why is your dad a PITA Poke?  My dad asked me the other day if my boobs were leaking yet.  Geesh!!
  • MUN1, we went through Asheville when we were in NC. It was really pretty. And we went to a park there on the outskirts. I'm blanking on the name but it was beautiful. Great place to go rafting or just play in the water, and climb forever up a mountain to a swimming hole and waterfall.

    My husband cured my asthma.

He told me to take some Tums and Zantac.  I thought he was a nutter.  30 minutes later, my coughing stopped.  I still feel like there is a horse sitting on my chest (upgraded from an elephant), but at least I'm not trying to cough myself to death.

Apparently, people with asthma have high instances of GERD, which can exacerbate asthma symptoms, but often without heartburn symptoms.  WTF.

  • Loop, so exciting that your U/S is so soon! And glad your H can be there for it.

    Poke, what'd your pop do?

Muni, is there any good theater in Asheville? That would mean PERFECTION.
    image
  • J, I have GERD and Asthma.  I never knew the two were connected. Mind = Blown.
  • YAY for J&K's hubby.  That was a neat trick :).
