We didn't have an air quality warning or anything.  So...I don't know, but I'd guess they couldn't be too much worse than normal?

  • Very true, J. She seems extremely unlikeable. Texas that is insane. Classics are classics for a reason. They became Great novels without that shiiit.

  • Careful with that Zizi.  I actually could come help!

  • Also... Sherlock Holmes isn't an American classic. SIR Arthur Conan Doyle was scottish.

I'd think they'd have an air quality warning if they were. Anyway, ugh and I'm sorry.

  • Girlie, it would be better than me eating it by myself-FI doesn't care for Bailey's.

  • hi ladies!  my little kitty went to his new home today.  i'm sad.  obviously, it's best for him, and I never intended to keep him.  but I like him a lot.  he was a pretty neat cat.
so i ordered myself a margarita pizza and coconut onion rings.... might as well drown my sorrows in wine and fat :)

I think I just died a little. No, a lot. I just died a lot. English Literature was my second major in college.<div>

  • Pride & Prejudice is my favorite book of all time. This makes me sad.

  • Thanks, Zizi.  I'll be ok, it's just highly annoying and inconvenient.

    Sorry, Kelly :(

I'm reading Brave New World, and H told me he read it in high school English.  I was like "uhhh....there are orgies and shiiiit."  I don't know what they teach people in MN schools.

  • I get that the copyrights on these books are up, so it's fair game.  But, that doesn't mean that you should "sex up" these books.  They are classics for a reason.

Yeah, I don't really mind fanfic or whatever. It just seems stupid to "sex up" the originals.<div>
</div><div>I'm not a prude or anything. I just love that older books have those subtle nuances and hints of sexuality and romance without being up in your face about it. Sometimes, what isn't said and only hinted at is sexier than anything. The classics are a reflection of that time, and authors loved to play with words and turns of phrases to say what couldn't be said.</div><div>
</div><div>I think I'm mostly annoyed because there's a lot of "dumbing down" that occurs nowadays, and it's happening more and more often. Maybe I'm over-reacting. I don't know.</div>
  • We did Brave New World in high school too.
The whole concept is just blah.

  • How far from London is that, Annie? Thats the only place in the UK I've been. Well aside from a tour to stonehenge and one other cathedral.

  • I feel like some parents would get really pissed about the content of BNW.  It's a good book, and I'm enjoying it greatly, but....there are orgies.

<div>Its about 3/4 hours away depending how you travel. I know with the size of America that seems like nothing, but to us it seems far! </div>

  • Evening, ladies!

Have I missed anything exciting?  It's been a hellofaday and I'm just getting home for some quiet time!

Apparently, someone got a hold of our bank info and wiped us out.  Happily it was only for a couple of hundred, instead of a whole paycheck, but there are totally random purchases on our debit card.  FI and I are super pissed!  The credit union is refunding the money, but it was a major PITA to change bank accounts, since now we have to change all of our auto pay stuff.

So now, I'm sipping a well deserved and much needed glass of wine.
  • Lizzie, that really sucks. What a pain. At least you can get the money back, and you have got wine.
