Is this normal?

I spent almost 2 hours with the florist that we decided to go with. We got a really great deal and were also able to get our chair covers from them as well. That was May 26th. I have yet to get my contract. When I paid the deposit, which was only $50 for a $1300 order, the lady told me that I would get the contract, via email, in a couple of weeks.

Well, a couple of weeks came and went, and I had my coordinator call last week to see what the hold up was. She was told that they wait until they get a bunch of contracts, do them all at the same time, and then email them out in a bunch. Is this normal?? I know that my wedding isn't until November but I really feel like I should have my contract by now.
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

Re: Is this normal?

  • I received my contract within a couple days from my florist.

  • I'd keep on the Florist to send your contract.
I wouldn't find that normal at all.

  • Well, when I met with an independent florist, I had my contract that day. This is a bigger floral company though.

  • Well, it's obviously normal for them.  I wouldn't stress about it.

I would not be comfortable with that at all. What does you having a contract have to do with other people booking with them first? I would tell them you would prefer one now. It shouldn't be a big deal and if it they make it one, I would find another florist and eat the $50. It would most likely turn out fine- but them waiting for other brides to book makes me nervous. What if someone else is getting married on your day and is spending 3 times as much as you? Would they drop your wedding last minute for a better opportunity?
My florist gave me a contract the day I came in stating what I wanted and what time they flowers would be delivered.

Edit: I just read that they're a big florist company...it's most likely fine.

  • I'm not sure about anyone else, but for me that would be normal. I've had a hard time getting florists to send me anything they said they were going to. If you plan on going with this florist I'd keep bothering them.
  • I just posted something similar on my wedding month board about this. Spoke to the florist in May, still haven't received my contract, and the wedding is in Oct. They keep telling me 'soon'. Maybe its just florists, or maybe they're more concerned with the closer dated weddings. Super frustrating though!
  • I think it's fine. You booked them almost 6 months in advance. I haven't even booked a florist yet and my wedding is in 3.5 months. A lot of smaller vendors (small things like limos, flowers, alterations, etc) don't have to be booked that far in advance. It's not like it's your venue. I wouldn't worry about it.

  • i got ours in the mail a few days after we booked. and then got another one a few days after we changed a few things. i'm assuming i'll get another one when we go in for the final counts and such. i don't think it's normal at all.
