Re: I hate that people like this exist.

• Just popping in to say, cengle: eye to eye.

And because this is a hot topic for me, here's where I've always stood: if we as a country use the Bible to determine law where marriage is concerned, then wouldn't all non-Christian marriages be illegal? I had a completely secular wedding, with no religious references whatsoever. We did not ask God to bless or recognize our marriage. Biblically, I'm not married at all. But I'm married legally, right? Do you see where I'm going with this?

[QUOTE]I think the word "marriage" is a religious term, and if you don't get married in a religious ceremony, you're civilly united. gay, straight, athiest, whatever. so I think everyone who signs the legal document should be considered civilly united. I think it should be up to the church the couple marries in to decide if they're "married" or not. if that makes sense. like my SIL, she and her FI are athiest, so I don't think the religious term should apply to them. separation of church and state. and I don't think one is better than the other.

Huh, I never thought of that. I agree with you.

I know of her, but I've never listened to or read anything she's said. But from this Snopes link, she does, in fact, appear to be a hypocritical scumbag.

Manda: Eye to eye, indeed.
I feel that marriage in our country is more of a legal issue than a religous issue. You can get married without the church, but your marriage isn't valid without that state-issued marriage license. So the church should have no say in the legal aspect of a marriage. Now, if a church doesn't want to perform ceremonies for homosexual couples if gay marriage were to be made legal, that's their own business.
• Isn't Dr. Laura the one who has been married multiple times and once posed nude? But she is super judgy about marriage and people who live together before tying the knot.

If you've ever seen that episode of Frasier with Christine Baranski, where she plays a cruel and judgy advice-giving radio host (with a secret past), that was a spoof of Dr. Laura. I think the character's name was even Dr. Norma or something that sounded like that.

The good thing is, according to snopes at least, is that someone leaked nekkid pics of her to the public. Nice to know there's some karmic retribution out there.

TBS. And they were on pretty late. I remember they also had SATC reruns on either right before or right after and that's pretty much how I saw the whole series, haha.

• LC, they play(ed) them on Lifetime too. I used to watch it right before the Golden Girls block. :)

• My dad loves Frazier, and has forced the entire family (sometimes just H if the ladies escape to the kitchen for some reason) to watch full episodes just because he remembers one part as being hilarious (to him). I think it might come on Lifetime now.

I'd like to be known as Dr. Salt from now on. Just because apparently it's okay to just add that on there with no earning of it whatsoever.
