Without an extension cord...?

We are planning to incorporate paper lanterns into our decor, like this:

(scroll to see the paper lanterns)

But.. err.. stupid question here. How do you think this couple lit the lanterns? I don't see a power cord (and that would be unattractive, right?), but I'm imagining that candles are probably a fire hazard. Was David Copperfield in charge of the decor? Smile

I'm clueless. Are there options for lighting paper lanterns w/o an extension cord? Thanks!

  • Those don't look like they're lit up in that picture. But if you want them to light up, there are battery operated "tealights" available now.
  • You can use LED tealights. They're sold in a lot of places online and some craft stores have them too.

  • Agreed, LED tealights. They have them at BB&B. Those don't look lit though. I'm thinking daytime wedding.

  • I love the battery operated candles they have out there now. We have one that is motion sensative around the bulb. You blow on the bulb and it turns on, then you blow on it again (like blowing out a candle) to turn it off. Kids get a huge thrill during Halloween/Christmas.
