Anyone have experience withETSY....

For your invitations?

I have found a couple of really nice ones that I am torn between and not sure I should even go this route... (however they are WAY cheaper than regular invites)

So wanted to get some opinons and testimonials if there are any out there?

Thanks!

Re: Anyone have experience withETSY....

  • We got our invitations through Etsy.  Seller info is in my bio.

They were beautifully crafted.  I could not have DIY'd anything near that nice for the price.

Most sellers will let you order a sample invite and will send paper samples if they offer differnt paper types.
  • Etsy is really popular for wedding stuff, invites, pretty much anything.  Each seller is different though, so make sure to get samples and read their reviews on Etsy and maybe even post here naming them and asking for info or recommendations from anyone else who may have used them.

  • Doctabroccoli just said in the good morning thread that she's ordering her invites from Etsy. I didn't, but I have a friend who ordered some and really liked them. Just make sure the seller has good reviews or get a recommendation from someone.
  • I am in the process of ordering mine from etsy right now.  My seller has been completely awesome through the whole process.

Am I breaking the rules if I post a link to her shop?

Not at all!  Recommendations are definitely allowed, as long as you aren't the seller herself.

  • I am having an Etsy seller make mine and then printing them myself. We haven't gotten very far yet, so I can't review anything...but so far she seems super helpful... and doing it this way is going to keep my invitations under $2 each (including postage!!)

After a brief flirtation with DIY, I ordered my invitations from Etsy seller Letter Box Ink:

    http://www.etsy.com/shop/LetterBoxInk

    Her professional website is here:

    http://www.lauranehls.com/

Laura (LetterBoxInk) is awesome.  She's amazingly easy to work with and -- if you're as indecisive as I am -- willing to bring her own ideas to the table and explain what will and will not work.  Slightly edited proofs of the invites she designed for me are in my bio.

On a side note, I screwed up and omitted the street number from FMIL's address on the RSVP postcards.  (Argh.  Argh.  Argh.)  I asked if I could buy RSVP envelopes from LetterBoxInk separately, thinking that if I provided return postage on the envelopes instead of the postcards, people would get the hint.  She offered to reprint the postcards for what I'm pretty sure is her cost or provide address stickers for free.  It was completely, 100% my mistake and she is bending over backwards to help me fix it.  A+++ recommendation from me.

  • btw, keep in mind that Etsy is basically an online marketplace.  There are good sellers and bad ones, so it's impossible to issue a blanket recommendation for Etsy as a whole.

  • I used Etsy for alot of things for my wedding, including invitations.  I liked my seller (Elegant Occasions).  It was a close call between her and Glitzy Events.  I had a very specific look I wanted and couldn't afford anywhere else.  I was very happy with my experience.
  • I also shopped on Etsy for a lot of wedding things as well.

There was one shop that I was very seriously considering getting my invitations from but ended up going the DIY route due to costs. As people mentioned, Etsy is dozens and dozens of different sellers so do your research/get personal recs. But all in all, it's a fantastic place for the more unique designs/finds/etc. It def. allows you to personalize your wedding, starting with the invtaitons.
