  • Sorry, dude.  I only have 5 minutes to go, then it's off to the gym for me.  So I will be suffering for another hour, but in a different way.

  • I got nothing. I escaped form the clutches of work early so I am catching up on knotting for the first time in days.

I fell, up my own stairs, yesterday. Now I have a sweet black arm sling to sport everywhere. Kind of funny.
  • I only have 3 minutes left so I'm pumped.  It's been a long day and I'm reeeeally tired.
  • I heard 2 kind of in poor taste jokes on the radio a minute ago if you're interested...

  • Oh my god Meaghan!  My H falls up the stairs ALL.THE.TIME.  He managed to do it our first night in the house.  So he was happy to get it out of the way.  It was just a matter of time.  He's never injured himself though.

I am down to 30 minutes.  My boss left so I'll probably leave in 20-25 minutes.  I'm such a rebel.

  • I didn't have to work today :) But I work a crappy retail job, so there's that... And I also donated plasma, and it doesn't really agree with me, so I can't do much of anything that involves me standing up.

  • Oh yeah Mandy. When I was explaining it to every one at work today they were all "UP the stairs!??" Um yeah, in my opinion falling up stairs is much easier than down.... or that could be my bruised ego talking ;)

Kate- today at work was poor taste joke day in the form of, "what do you call a guy with no arms and no legs in the pool?" People went on for.hours.
  • I fell down an up escalator once. You'd think you'd just keep falling, but you very definitely end up at the bottom very quickly.

  • Ok, first the DJ was talking to his cohost about that song that says "Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips"... and then the other DJ said, "I neither see nor hear anything funny about Helen Keller jokes"... it made me LOL.  And then the first DJ said back, "You're right I'm so sorry.  Also, holocaust jokes aren't funny, anne frankly, I am tired of them!"

Like I said, kind of in poor taste, but still ok for the radio I guess...  Sorry, it's not as funny typing them out as it was a few minutes ago in my car.

  • TJ - I feel up an up escalator over a month ago.  I still have some wicked bruises, and it was even more embarassing than I would have imagined.  Especially since I was telling everyone I was okay even though, unbeknownst to me, I was bleeding like crazy.

I agree, I always trip up the stairs, but now our house doesn't really have stairs, so I don't have to worry about it. And if it makes you feel better, a girl at work fell in the shower and broke her arm. She wasn't trying to get out or anything, just fell (at least that's the story she told people).

  • Laura - I had commuters trying to separate me out from the bottom of a pile at Shady Grove metro station. I was so embarrassed I didn't realize how hard I'd hit my head until I'd made my escape into the train.

M&M- I have fallen UP the stairs and taken out my front tooth, so I feel your pain.

qwerty - she was totally doing it in the shower. Totes magotes.
  • uuhhh Mags, you totally win. That is just miserable. Although, if you got a sweet grill out of the deal I suppose it was worth it. Gold teef?

When I fell, half of the people seemed concerned, and the other half seemed like they wanted to tell me, "Get the eff out of my way."  I even got knocked on the head by a couple of briefcases.  Oh, and some jacka$$ at the bottom was laughing and pointing, literally, and shouting, "Damn girl, you fell GOOD!".  I was so embarassed by all of the attention that I practically sprinted out of there and didn't realize I was covered in blood for a good ten minutes, after I noticed people on the street staring at me.

  • At the risk of being accused of self-promotion, here is the whole escalator story for anyone who is bored. (clicky)

If you're not that bored, it basically just says that I fell down an up escalator, but with a lot more dramatics.

TJ- it won't click for me.

M&M- yeah, it was no fun, but they were able to put a crown on my tooth to make it look normal again. Try explaining that in the ER, and then having to CONVINCE the ER that you were not beat up, you are not on drugs, and yes you were sober.

  • M&M - That was pre-dog! I still lived in Maryland at the time, while Brinkley lived out here in AZ with Phil.

To make up for it, here is a picture of my opportunistic dogs waiting to take advantage of my crazy fling-crap-everywhere cooking style last night.

Oh god, I have been there. One time a few years ago I was boogie boarding and got the most ridiculous sized bruised in my stomach from taking a turn in the waves while the boogie board dug into me. It was horrid. And, it was so painful my mom dragged me to the Drs just to make sure nothing else was wrong besides this massive bruise. I mean, I respect they are doing their jobs but it was definitely, erm interesting, seeing what kind of theories they came up with.

I actually live in fear of having to explain a sex based injury at an ER some day. Not that I have wild sex. I mean, it's not UN-wild. Ok. Yes it is. It's really dull. But I'm pretty clumsy.

You know what would be worse, though? Owning day of the week underpants and then being in a car accident. At first, I'd probably be really good about wearing the correct underpants on the correct day, but eventually it would just be like, clean underpants are clean underpants, you know? So one Tuesday, I reach in the drawer and put on the Friday underpants, and then I'm in an accident and the ER people are like "EW!" and I'd have to explain that I hadn't been wearing them since Friday.

I would never buy underwear with days on them for this exact reason. My mom always used to tell me to make sure to wear clean underwear in case you are ever in an accident. It suck with me.
