Did anyone see Real Time with Bill Maher a few weeks ago when he said that apparently the average citizen thinks we spend like 5% of our budget on the arts (thing like the National Endowment for the Arts, the Smithsonian, etc)? He's like, "No, we do not spend 800 BILLION dollars a year on ballet. The budget is something like .000001% of the entire federal budget. But if that's what conservatives believe, sure. We should play along! Tell them yes, we will totally defund the arts if you leave Planned Parenthood funding alone and continue to fully fund Medicare. *wink*"

To be fair, I had never heard of the onion until a few months ago, when I saw an article linked on someone's FB and thought "WTF that can't be true."  Then I learned.  For the life of me though I can't remember what the article was.

The stupidity of these people makes me worry about the future of our country. On another note, as a Kansan, I would like to point out that Topeka and Kansas for that matter are NOT part of the bible belt. The bible belt is the South, not the Midwest.
