I am a member of the Los Angeles board but I'm going to be in NYC in a couple weeks and I was wondering if any of you know of any great places to get a veil. 

I'm not having the best of luck finding one I like In L.A.

RK bridal has a lot of options at good prices.  For veils I dont think you need an appointment
