NWR: Stupid men...

My fiance was going to meet a friend at a university campus today... the campus I went to. He asked me for directions, and I said it's just off of "x drive." I asked him if he needed more directions or if he wanted my GPS.. he said no.

Well, an hour after he left he calls me and he is lost. He is about 30 minutes North of where he should be. I knew exactly where he was, and told him to just go south and then turn onto X road off of the other road. He then proceeded to tell me that they are the same roads and they meet.... yeah, they meet in a triangle eventually - but like 40km north!

UGH then he gets mad at me for giving him spotty directions. I eventually told him to pull over and ask where the campus is, and he said: "fu.ck it - I'll find it myself."

WHAT is wrong with men?! My ex-boyfriend did this all of the time too. Why are they so stubborn and do they venture into things so unprepared??

  • Heh, I don't know. I got annoyed with H the other day--our GPS went haywire while he was driving, and he hadn't looked up the route ahead of time like he was supposed to, so we were totally clueless. Proof that GPS will fail you sometimes too :D

  • The only time Mr. Penny and I fight is in the car.  Always related to directions.
  • Men just can't ask for directions, I dunno what it is. My H is really good with directions, we don't have a GPS, he just used the old fashioned map whenever we go somewhere new.
  • Men just can't ask for directions, I dunno what it is. H is really good with directions, but when we go somewhere new, he just gets out the good 'ole fashioned map, no GPS for us.

<div>Oh gosh, I wish I had opened up that thread first. What a horrible story, yet what wonderful advice I should have used and read an hour ago. Poor OP.</div>

  • Hmm. I can't relate to that. My husband is always prepared when we travel - I'm not. He pre-programs the GPS and updates the software, and if its someplace new, I'll print out mapquest directions. He even has a built-in sense of direction - it's uncanny.

I'm usually the one getting us lost.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
