tattoo question

Re: tattoo question

  • That's interesting, AATB.  I'm thinking of getting a script tattoo on my foot, and another on my shoulder blade.  I don't know when I'll do it, but that's the plan.

  • I got my navel pierced on the radio my senior year of HS. It was my graduation present from the morning show I interned for. My mom called and said "STOP POKING HOLES IN MY DAUGHTER!"

I was supposed to have gotten my cartlidge and an extra hole in my ears too - but I was too much of a pansy.

    Cool story, LDY.
  • What's it say Eags? :)

  • I loved my navel piercing when I had it.  Hated the cartilage piercing though.  It never healed right and it constantly hurt.

  • I can't believe I'd had my navel ring for 10 years.  I don't care if I'm "too old" to have one though :) I think it's bitchin.

I went with a good friend of mine to get it done.  She was really nervous about it, so before we went into the parlor she got some ice from a convenience store across the street and we sat in the car for a while - she was icing her belly button thinking it would numb the pain, and trying to muster up her courage.  I went first, but when we were signing the papers and stuff she nervously told the guy at the desk she was icing her belly button.  He was like "Uh... stop that.  It's gonna bleed everywhere."  And it totally did, lol.

I didn't think it hurt, it was fun!  I wanted to pierce something else after that but never did.  I can tell why people do it.

  • I used to have my nose pierced back when I was in high school and refused to wear a bra for about a year. It's funny because it is so NMS now. Well, I guess I still hate wearing a bra.

  • I wish I could get away without wearing a bra but... me without a bra is sort of obscene.

[QUOTE]I got my navel pierced when I was 18, LTB, and I can't take the damn thing out.  I hate how my belly button and mid-section looks without it.  I read somewhere recently that most of the tattoos these days - something overwhelming, like, 75% or something - are script tattoos instead of images.  It's the latest fad - people used to get tribal tattoos and Chinese symbols, now they are just getting words, phrases, song lyrics, names, etc.  Tattoo artists are annoyed by it, I guess, since their talents are being wasted.  Any schmuck off the street could tattoo the word "Faith" or the-like, but it takes a true artist to depict a life-life image.  I thought that was an interesting story.  Especially since any tat I've considered... most of them were words.

That's really interesting! I would believe it.
I have two "word" tattoos among my other ones. One is numbers and the other is a line from a Robert Frost poem .  I adore them because they're like permanent sticky-note reminders.

Anyway, I think a little butterfly would look good with the lotus on your ankle, OP!
I totally get what its like to have a job that doesn't approve of them.  Recently, a teacher I was observing was talking about tattoos and I told her about all mine, and I just got this "are you serious!!?" face! But I dress very modestly/conservatively on a daily basis and even more so in a professional environment, so covering them up isn't really too hard, and I'm sure that revealing them is pretty surprising to people.
  • What about the top of your foot? I know in terms of locations, it's not the most desirable when it comes to the pain factor, but it would be easy to hide and you would be able to see it when you took your shoes off.

While I don't actually have a tattoo and don't know that I'd ever be brave enough to get one, that's where I'd get it. Plus, I live in flip flops from March until it snows so I'd see it all the time unless I was working.
  • H and I have discussed getting our first ever tats together.  I think we will get our zodiac signs - I found a couple different renditions that I like.  He is Sagittarius and I am Virgo.  The ones I really liked have flames coming out of them.

I want one on my upper arm and one on my shoulder blade.  I am afraid the shoulder will hurt.  I would like a butt cheek or a hip tat, but right now I am too roly poly around the midsection.
