It's oh so quiet

Re: It's oh so quiet

  • H and I don't do any 'meat substitute' crap. We'll eat stir fried tofu once in a blue moon, but we don't do any of the wannabe meat stuff. Our theory is, why would we as vegetarians want mock meat?

  • hehe :D  I thought it was a common term? Ah well.  Anyway, they're all Seventh Day Adventists, and eating meat is anathema.  They have a huuuuge selection of vegetarian type stuff, so I've tried a fair amount of it.  I just can't like tofu.  It's nasty.  I think people eat it because it's substantial?  I don't know.

I am not usually a tofu fan, but I had some awesome japanese with tofu recently. I can't recall what was in it now, lol, just that it was delicious! But I do agree- why do vegetarian to eat pretend meat? Seems a little odd.

*wait, I remember exactly what it was and it wasn't Japanese at all, it was Chinese. Our friend (who used to be a Japanese chef and is such a good cook- love visiting them!) made this for us when they had us over to show us their recent china travel pics. It was tofu with schezuan pepper and it was SO good.

  • Yeah, it has excellent protein.... but so does a lot of other more delicious things...

  • Reddy- your dress is just SO adorable. And the hair. And the whole ensemble, actually! haha. I love it!
  • PS: Why are those links not in your sig? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to bio stalk you! :P
  • TheSun, it IS down to two pages...

and yes, I'm the one that's allergic to most Vegetarian "fillers" Potatos, eggplant, chickpeas...

  • Did you fit all of your experience in two pages? What size is it at? Is there word art in there or something?
  • Thank-you so much!

Almost everything was DIY, including my hair and make-up :)

and I had a whole saga with my foot this year and I'm so thankful I wasn't in a cast or strange shoes. It took a lot of work getting to those jeweled flip-flops!

<div>oh this makes me so sad... is it the starch or something else? What is your fave veg dish you can eat?</div>

  • Reddy, I'm allergic to the Nightshade family and a bunch of other stuff.  It's just those are the worst offenders.  Cooked, I can take them in small doses (except tomoatos, i can eat those cooked w/no problems).  it's raw or in large doses that the problems start.

My fav veggie dish?  I can't remember waht it was called, but this Chinese place back in DC made a gret soup with fried tofu.  That was pretty good.

  • hmm, I've never heard of that before, now I feel bad about ragging on my guests claiming they are allergic to veggies... but really though, they're not, they are just allergic to being healthy.

sun- I am scared of the stalkers even though I am one.

  • Oh I eat a TON of veggies, it's just 100% vegetarian meals seem to have a large quantaties of the stuff I can't eat.

  • BTW, I'm totally happy that I found channelsurfing.  Love.  I'm streaming MSNBC. :D
  • I'm headin' off to bed, g'night all!

  • Night Reddy!

Any luck with uploading the resume, aMrs?

  • Turns out H had this problem with one of the crew agencies.  His resume is like four paragraphs and is STILL too big for 250 kb, so he knows how to shrink it down to some ridiculously sized file.  He'll do it after dinner.  I have until the 18th to submit so that's a good thing.

Right now he is making me a cutting board that is the size of our fridge shelves.  I love a man who has talents.

  • Ooh.  I bet you have to zip file it.  Of course. Silly me not thinking of it.  lol

I'm currently attempting to print a photo.  I hope it turns out!
  • Hey you two, I just posted photos on FB.  You can now see why I am loath to leave the veranda.

I just commented on how beautiful it is. You have your very own rainforest! I bet there are lots of gorgeous birds and other wildlife out there.

My backyard is a bush. We have a bush turkey (aka 'Harry'), a few birds and no doubt a bunch of snakes and spiders. As long as they stay out there, I'm happy! How is the front coming along (was it the front where you killed the ferns? which, btw, I forgot to mention, inspired me to get rid of all of my own!)?

AND, I meant to ask, how is the weather treating you?

  • aMrs, I might be late to this... but try converting the document in to a PDF. That should take care of it for you. You can do it for free online (with no watermarks added or anything) at www.pdfonline.com. :)
  • Good suggestion ak! I always convert all of my resumes and selection criteria documents to PDF before sending them, so I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me earlier!
  • Anyway girls- I need to get rid of this re-appearing cold once and for all before I jet off- must sleep! night all.
  • Amoro and AK, yes a zip or a pdf would work.  Obviously I've been out of the job market WAY too long.  Maybe I don't deserve to get hired by a real company ::sniff::.

TheSun, we have kangaroos, pythons, orange footed scrub fowl, wild turkeys, the possum...
The nex ton the hit list in the front is to move those Giant Birds of Paradise and we have three HUGE clumps of Clumping Palms.  We really oinly need one...

  • Oh, we have possums too! But the rest sounds exotic (i'll let you keep the pythons! ;P)
