Morniiiiiiing

Re: Morniiiiiiing

  • Morning ladies!  I'm back at work and it sucks as usual.  I had a moment yesterday where I thought, "What if I just never went back?"  It was only for a second and I came back to reality, but it was a glorious one second.  Watched the Dexter season 5 finale and was kind of disappointed.

Got some stuff to catch up on today, but nothing exciting.

  • Aww, Opal, I'm sorry. I don't think it's silly - I'd be bummed too. I'm amazed the dogs haven't knocked the tree over completely yet with their wrestling, but I think they're scared of it and stay away.
  • Aw, I'm sorry Opal. :(
  • Thanks for the sympathy, guys.

I'm disappointed (and still feeling a little ridiculous), but I think we've worked out a solution to save the rest of them. We stripped all the ornaments off the tree and are going to suspend them from garlands high up over the doorframes so the cats can't get at them.

The tree is looking a little nekkid now, though. I think I might decorate it with some fake poinsettias or plastic ornaments I don't mind losing.
  • I'd be upset too Opal. I'm so sorry that happened.

Good morning.  That sucks about your ornaments, Opal.  I learned two years ago not to hang anything valuable on our tree.  Even though the cats are too big to climb it, they still scale the center pole and punch out the ornaments from the center.

I have wind burn on my face like woah from walking home from the bus last night.  I look like I laid in a tanning bed for way too long.  Oh, and FI got his car splashed by waves from Lake Erie going up onto I-90.  That's how windy it was.

  • I'm sorry, Opal.  It's not stupid at all.  I get upset every time one of the special ornaments breaks.

You can get really pretty unbreakable ornaments, which is why my parents and I do with our respective trees.  With any luck, after this year, your kittens will get over the ZOMG AMAZEMENT of the tree and they'll stick to just gnawing on the bottom branches next Christmas.  That's what ours always did.

  • Yeah, I hope so, Bay. Right now they love swatting at the ornaments, climbing the pole to punch out the ornaments, and fighting each other IN the tree.

I tried playing with them to distract them, but no dice. I throw one of their favorite toys, and they look at it like, "Oh, that's cool. But this is so much more sparkly!" *Pounce*
  • That's a bummer, opal. Most of my ornaments are ones I got growing up too. Luckily our cats don't get into the tree, but I do avoid hanging delicate or special ornaments too low--Gizmo likes to play and he's knocked a few off.

  • Good morning kids!  We're having our work holiday lunch today, which I'm not looking forward to.  It's at frickin' Olive Garden, and one of my co-workers is coughing her butt off.  If she's doing that all through lunch I might die.

I hear you on the Olive Garden thing.  A couple of our friends insisted on having their engagement party there, so we had to wait for like an hour and a half to even be seated.  Ugh, it's so not that good.

  • Oh man.  I hate Olive Garden.  A lot.  A lot lot.
  • I'm sorry to hear about your ornaments Opal. Luckily our dogs pretty much just ignore the tree. We did find one ornament on the ground that looked like it had been chewed on, but it was hard to tell which one of them did it.
