Invitation Questions

I know it's a little early to order them, but I have a voucher and a killer coupon that expires at the end of the month, so I'm testing out wording and such on the invites.

About the wedding: it's not a fancy, black tie event. It is a religious ceremony, but I don't want to use "the honour" request, and I'm trying to keep it short and sweet so I can have room for reception info on the bottom of the invite to save some money by not having to purchase reception cards.

This is the wording I have saved:

INVITE YOU TO WITNESS AS THEY UNITE IN MARRIAGE
SEPTEMBER 15, 2012 AT 4:30 PM

RECEPTION TO FOLLOW FROM 6 PM-12 AM
(reception venue name and address here)

My questions:
Is the "endless love" thing weird? It goes with the theme, but I don't want to be dumb. (Fixed this one!)
Is it tacky to put recep info on the invitation?
Should I shorten it to just "reception from 6-12" instead of the breakdown of stuff? (Fixed this one too.)
I want to save money, but I don't want to be "cheap." Would it be better to order reception cards?
I want to order RSVP postcards from VP but they will be a different paper texture; does this make a difference/will people care?

I'd probably roll my eyes a bit at that.  I'm trying to think of something that would work better, but I'm coming up blank.

Yes, "endless love" sounds corny.  It reminds me of that song from the 1970's or whenver it was.

And you don't need the breakdown of events.  You can either say "reception to follow" or "reception at 6pm" if it's a bit of a break between the ceremony and reception.

I'm not sure for alternative wordings.  But it could be along the same lines as you have.  My brain is not coming up with alternatives.

Yeah, I would change endless love for sure.
I would giggle if I got an invitation with that on it.
You also don't need the break down of events. Just "reception to follow" or something.

Whoa, that was a lot of questions. I believe most on here will say that you should have a separate reception card if the reception is held at a different location than the ceremony. That said, we just ordered large 6x9 invites & put all the info on 1. I didn't feel the need to be separate. Oh well if someone is offended.

To be honest, the 'endless love' part is a little strange. It is a little corny, but more than that, it doesn't make sense. You're not inviting people to be part of your marriage or union in love. You're inviting them to watch or observe your union. I have no other creative solutions. I'm sure someone else will.

Okay, that makes sense. That's what comes pre-set into the text field for that and my creative juices are just not working. Maybe I will do the ''honour of your presence" thing.

Sorry, but I'd definitely be rolling my eyes.

It's fine to have the reception info on the invite- we are. I would just say Cocktails and dancing from 6-12 or something like that. People generally know how a reception works and you don't need to break it down.

Obviously you have to have a different colour for your RSVPs. I'd probably stick with the same textured paper if you can afford it. If not, no biggie.

This is what worries me. The RSVP's that match this invitation set are like $150, but I could get postcard ones on VP for under $30. I feel like a cheapie, but I could really use that money elsewhere in the budget, yet I don't want to have a tacky/mismatched invitation set either. I can mimic the invitation design on VP, but not the exact texture. :/

And I think the reception breakdown is unneccessary.  Cocktails to begin at 6 o'clock would probably suffice. I personally would do a reception card since it's a different location, but I don't think it's actually wrong to do it your way, especially since you said it's not formal.  If you want to go traditional you should spell out the date and time.

I probably wouldn't notice a different paper texture unless they were WAY different (think thick recycled vs copy paper)  but I'd try to make sure the designs at least coordinate.

I think it sounds a little cheesy. Mainly because I hate that song. I think our wording was "tpender13 and H invite you to witness a celebration of love..."

Endless Love, yeah it does make me think of the cheesiness of Olivia Newton John in Grease....great girly movie for fun but in real life more of an eyeroll
