Hi all! I am barely ever on here, but thought you girls could benefit from some NYC vendor reviews. Our wedding was amazing and we couldn't have done it without help!
VENUE: Midtown Loft & Terrace A-
The space is gorgeous, the views incredible and the staff is friendly and extremely accommodating. Everything was clean for the day and there was someone there to make sure everything went off without a hitch. The only down sides were the fact that the arch we were married under seemed to be falling apart and they forgot to put up a curtain in an area we had discussed. Both problems were fixed quickly. Also, the door man was rude to my vendors and I think they put up a handwritten sign to guide the guests upstairs- which was not what we discussed and is pretty tacky. Despite that, our guest have not stopped raving about the wonderful location and beautiful venue!
CATERER: Scoozi Events A++
I cannot rave enough about this company! They handled everything for me. From rentals, to set-up, to staffing, to the bar/food, and even helped on the day of to make sure everything went off without a hitch. The food was the best food I have ever had at a wedding and our guest made sure to tell us that all night. Amazing passed hors d'oeuvres that were served in the most beautiful ways, wit fresh flowers and unique presentation! (Note: if booking. Try the truffle Mac and Cheese, Mini lobster rolls, and BLT sushi)
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and made my day as perfect as I imagined. They normally do a lot of corporate events (SATC wrap party, fashion shows) and they made everything look gorgeous. The rentals they use are amazing, they set up our lanterns and decor, the waiters were very cute and friendl, and everything was on time and done right! Check them out, you will not be sorry!
Flowers: Designs By Rose A++
When they delivered my flowers, it was the first tears I shed all day. I never imagined that what I saw in my mind could be so beautiful in reality. My bouquet was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and the comments about our centerpieces did not stop all night.
Rose and her family go above and beyond for you. They work with your budget and your ideas and create something even better than you could envision. She is friendly and warm and her parents (who help run things with her) are the best! The firs time we me them her father took s out for pizza! How cool is that?!
If you can book her before she is booked, do it! She was what made our day that much more special and beautiful. Fresh flowers really do make a difference, and you do have it in your budget. Believe me!
Photography: Dreamlife photography A+
Our only big emergency that we had to deal with was that our photographer with Dreamlife called us with 104 degree fever as she was rushed to the hospital. She said she would not be able to make it, but that they were sending over their head photographer. As long as someone was coming, I was happy and I am glad that she is ok and was awesome enough to call us and inform us of the backup plan without having us stress!
The photographer that came (with an assistant) was amazing! He had great ideas, was polite, and so much fun to shoot with. A true professional! I think he had a good time with us and our wedding party all commented on how fun the pictures were to take with him. The greatest part was that after the formal shots he just became invisible. We hardly even noticed him there, yet he was always in the middle of every important moment.
Dreamlife has been great to deal with and very budget friendly. Their pictures look amazing and I am shocked at how it didn't break the bank and I was able to afford a videographer as well.
Videography: Dreamlife photography B+
Dreamlife also provided the video. I have yet to see the video, but I'm sure it'll be great! The only reason why they aren't getting an A review is because the videographer was very intrusive. My husband (yay!) was very frustrated that the camera was constantly in his face with a bright light shining in his eye. He kept asking me "why did we think this was a good idea?" I'm sure that it'll be great and I'll keep you posted on it, but be advised that they weren't the inconspicuous type.
Lighting: WeddingDJweb.com A+
Wow! I was amazed at what a HUGE impact the lighting made in our venue. We had dimmers and candles but the pink uplighting transformed our wedding into a real event. It was beautiful! The lights started changing after dinner and that was pretty awesome.
The best part was that I only booked them about 2-3 weeks before the wedding, gave me an unbelievable quote and showed up (made them selves invisible) and knocked it out of the park. The woman that hung around to make sure everything went well was so sweet and hard working. We loved having 1K, but they did and it was better than I imagined! True professionals!
Makeup and Hair: Go Glam Beauty : JoAnne Robertson A+
I found JoAnne on wedding wire and I am so glad I did! She was fun, confident and had me looking like a million bucks. I was on a budget and she was able to do what wi wanted and all my girls and my mother with what I could afford. Her assistant Kari (or carrie) was amazing and my girls loved her. We all looked so beautiful and it was a great experience to work with them. A lot of fun!
Cake: City Sweets B
Our cake was delicious! Best wedding cake ever. We had lemon with lemon filling, white chocolate with raspberry filling and vanilla with passionfruit. So yummy. Our cake was also beautiful...if it had been what I ordered. Granted, the design that showed up was very similar to what we had originally talked about, but we emailed a few weeks before the wedding and changed it. She assured the changes we made and it would be beautiful. I asked for buttercream and I got fondant, the sugar flowers (while beautiful) were the wrong type and color...pretty much the only thing they got right were the flavors and that it was a 3 tier cake.
Nonetheless, I was the only one that knew that and everyone love it! There was hardly any cake left and we got a lot of non-cake eaters telling us how much they enjoyed the cake. The fondant was actually pretty yummy, so color me surprised! I do recommend this vendor, but I would make sure the day before to check in with them and double check everything. I'm sure with so many weddings and emails, sometimes things get lost in translation.
Hotel: The W New York A +
Such a fun hotel! They treated us like royalty, upgraded us to a suite and upgraded all our guests 2 levels. I loved staying here! It didn't hurt that there were tennis hotties walking around because of the u.s. open. Ha! They gave us the lowest rate in the city, blocked rooms and handed out our gift bags. I highly recommend staying here! Youthful hotel with yummy food, great bar and unbelievable concierge/bellhop service. Loved it!
Hope this helps at least one person! A few of the other vendors we brought in from out of state, so I won't waste time writing about them. If you have any questions regarding any of these vendor, send me a message, I would love to give you honest feedback! Good luck with all your weddings!
