amazing small venue (50 or under) suggestions in NYC?

Hello,

My fiance and I are living in New York but he is from France and I am from Canada so we do not know the city very well.

We want to hold a small party for under 50 people. Many will be from out of town so we want to do something "New York-y".

Does anyone have any suggestions of where we could hold a non religious ceremony followed by a reception ? I know this is a big question, but please share if you have had any especially positive or negative experiences.

Thanks =)

    I've heard the Ramscale loft in the west village is great and it's on the smaller side.  You could do the downstairs granite room in City Hall restaurant.  At that size, I would think about renting out a restaurant, as opposed to a more trad 'wedding' venue...

    Try the Princess Manor in Greenpoint Brooklyn

    Bubby's Tribeca

    The Picnic HOuse in Prospect Park

    Good Luck!

    Try Landmarc in the Time Warner Center.  They have 2 private rooms.  I am using one for the ceremony and the other one for the reception.

    I used BLT Prime's private room for my rehearsal dinner and it was perfect.  50 is the max and they do weddings.

    I am having this same question about the venue - my fiance is from France, too!  What did you decide?
