Things all men should know

Axe is horrible. And soaking yourself in it only makes you smell worse, not better.

  • How to tie a tie.
Which hand to wear you watch on. (I know this is really silly, but when I see right handed people with watches on their right hands, it drives me crazy.)
Not something to know, but something to own: at least one French cuff shirt and a decent pair of cufflinks.

  • I know how to tie a tie. I did the debate team once.

But really, I do and have taught other men how to do it, too.

    Things men need to know:

No matter how big of a piece of food you are eating, you should still use a plate.

Put the toilet seat down, always.

Your skinny jeans aren't cute, and I can see your junk. Or lack of it.

Not all girls like men in pink (I hate it) or find crying sexy (unless someone died or your saying you vows Wink)

    Suit jacket buttons go:
    *sometimes
    *always
    *never

***LC I don't understand your watch thing, I'm right-handed and wear my watch on my right wrist.

Edit- I did'nt mean crying because someone died is sexy, I re-read what I wrote and it sounded that way

To be quiet when I'm on a rant. You can speak when I'm done. And if you raise your voice at me. I'm just going to get irrationally mad.

  • This one is just for my H, but it drives me nuts--how to finish peeing before flushing. I don't get it. Why flush mid-pee when you're clearly not done? If you're going to flush down the pee, at least get all of it.

How to put dishes away in their actual locations, not wherever they fit.

How odd? I'm a lefty and wear my watch on my left hand. Why do you even care which hand a watch is on?

Anyway, I also ditto the hammer is not an ornament.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Charlie wears manpris, and he actually looks rather fetching in them. I think it's because he's 8 feet tall and incredibly skinny, so it's not like his regular pants are long enough anyway.

  • FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, if you use my car, please put the seat back where it used to be. I don't like to drive when I'm practically sitting in the backseat.

And please turn the volume on the radio back down to where I had it, or somewhere close to that, so I don't blow my eardrums out when I turn it on.
In Response to Re: Things all men should know : FI got me into the habit of taking off my shoes at the door. My parents never made any requests about shoes one way or the other, other than if they're covered in mud leave them outside. FI's family does it because his grandparents (who raised him) spent a good chunk of time in Japan and it's one of the Japanese customs they just brought back to the US with them. The first time I visited FI's grandparents, I thought it was because of the white carpet in the living room :/

That used to really bug me too...especially when I knew I was only going to be there for a few minutes. The family I babysit for wants me to take my shoes off and I literally am only in their house for about 3 minutes every morning and afternoon. It sucks, especially when I wear sneakers.

Along these lines the closet is not there becuase it came with the house. Why leave coats all over the hosue and then wonder where they are. If you put it in the closet when you come home it will be there when you are leaving and want it again.
  • If you leave your bottom drawer open and I bang my ankle on it ONE.MORE.TIME. I will bash your ankle in with a hammer! Dramatic? Maybe, but I'm sick of ankle bruises.

  • If you're not going to put your dishes in the dishwasher, at LEAST rinse them off when you put them in the sink! It's way easier than scrubbing it off after it's dried!

MMA fights = Project Runway...I deal with your bloody TV and you can deal with my shows - or go into the other room.

Stubble is scratchy. Shave that shiit or don't expect me to make out with you lol.
  • Who leaves their shoes on in a strangers house? Now, that's just rude.

Maybe it's because I live in ND and bringing snow and mud into ones house is just not acceptable.

  • haha I just got back from lunch and these are great :)

    I'd add:

If you call me "mom" even jokingly, I'm going to get pissed.

If you take something out of the fridge, put it back in. It was in there for a reason.

When you shave, PLEASE rinse the little hairs out of the sink.

This, only with car keys! FI leaves his keys all over the house and doesn't think to look for them until he's ready to leave, which has him panicking and racing around trying to find them. We have a key rack next to the door for a reason! H'es already lost 3 sets of truck keys, I don't understand this.
It's always so strange to me to think that people wander around their house with their shoes on. I'll be honest, that's something I've never seen in real life. Men: Putting the groceries away does not mean just carrying them into the kitchen from the car. You're the last one out of bed? You make it. Again, there isn't a magical bed making fairy, and I won't be back in there until bedtime, so just make the bed.
    Posted by mrs.jesse
Confession: I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've made my bed. And not because someone else made it for me, it just didn't get done. My mom never made me do it when I was little and now I figure I'm just getting back in later. The only time I have done/will do it is if someone is coming over for the first time and I know I'll give them a tour of our place.

  • I don't see the point in making the bed, if I have company over it's not like they'll be in my room and "ZOMG your bed isn't made!?!?!"
  • You don't need to use 20 dryer sheets per load of laundry. 1 or 2 will be just fine. And those things aren't cheap.
