flower girl?

hi guys so my question is how old is too old to be a flower girl my 7 year old daughter really has her heart set on it but the wedding is in two years. Ive never seen a 9 year old flower girl but is it ok

Re: flower girl?

  • I was a 9 year old flower girl.  It was awkward.  Tell her you'll figure it out in a year and a half and gauge her interest then.

  • I was at a wedding that had a 10 year old flower girl. I think technically that is too old, but its your wedding and if your daughter really wants to be it then let her!
  • Anything older than 5 or 6 IMO is too old. That doesn't mean people don't have older flower girls. JMO.

But most people will tell you that they are too old if they TELL you they are too old. If she wants to do it, let her. If she thinks she's too old at age 9, let her be a Jr. BM.

We're having 8 & 6 year olds as our flower girls.  They are my MOH's daughters, and couldn't be more excited about it.

  • My sister and I were Junior BMs when I was 8 and she was 10... so that is an alternative if "flower girl" seems awkward.
  • I made them Junior Bridesmaids - they will be 9 & 10 by this Sept.

  • I was a Jr. BM in my aunt's wedding at age 9.  I know kids mature at different rates, but I would have been mortified to be a flower girl in 4th grade.  You have plenty of time, so I would revisit this in about 18 months.

  • She may just not know the term "junior bridesmaid," but wants to be part of the WP.  But you certainly have time to revisit it when you're closer to the wedding date.
  • By the time she is 9 she'll probably want to be a Junior BM.  She is still at the age now where flower girl would be really cool but that will probably change.  You have 2 years to figure it out.
