Sending STD too soon to siblings wedding?

From what I have read, STD's usually go out 6 months in advance, but since our wedding is on a holiday weekend (weekend before Christmas) we wanted to give guests more notice so they can plan accordingly. However,  my FI brother is also getting married this year, in May. Is it tacky to send our STD before their wedding? I don't want to bombard on side of the family with so much wedding stuff so close together or cause any kind of problems with my future brother-in-law and his bride. Any etiquette on this?

Your STD has nothing to do with their wedding date.  It's considerate to give family more notice when there are going to be multiple family weddings that year so they can plan their time off from work and family vacations accordingly.

You can send them any time 6-9 months for your wedding.  There's no conflict with your brother's wedding here.

Maybe just don't mail them so they show up in people's mailbox the day before your brothers wedding. While technically there would be no conflict, I can see how that would be weird if that happened, KWIM?

I fully agree with giving your guests as much advance notice as possible, especially for a wedding near Christmas time.  Maybe send out your STD's next month in April?

I agree with this.  If you're worried, send them earlier.  You're still in your 6-9 month window. 

I don't think one piece of mail will be bombarding them.  you're safe.
