Roman numerals on invites

FI is not a Jr. he is the second (II) and all the fonts we like for our invites make the roman numerals look really funny! FI suggested that we just take off the "II" because he doesn't really like it anyways.. but I feel that its part of his name and really should be on there and I am sure FMIL will say the same. What should we do? any sugguestions? TIA!

Re: Roman numerals on invites

  • I'd say either go with a different font, or have FI handle his mother.  It's his name, if he doesn't want the II after it, he should just say so.

  • According to etiquette, it should be on there, or else it's implying you're marrying the first, which I assume is his dad.

But really, if he doesn't want it on there, I don't think it's somehting that will matter than much anyway, because everyone will likely know that you're not marrying his father.

[QUOTE]Is there any way to pick a different font for the roman numerals only?

I tried that and it still looks funny... you can totally tell its a different font =(
  • Then if he doesn't want it, I'd just leave it off.  It's really not a big deal.  This is surely not a hill to die on.

(I'm kidding.  I think FI's Name, II looks fine.)

Eta: well, mostly kidding.  I think FI's Name the Second looks a little royal/papal.
  • If the invite is fairly formal though, it could work, no?

  • It could work.   Really, I think it's bothering OP more than it'd bother any guest.
  • What font is it?  If two capital I's (eyes) look wierd, have you you tried using two lowercase l's (ells) instead?  Hope you know what I mean by this.

heres a pic of the invite... maybe I am crazy ( I put the "II" in a different font and it doesn't look that bad/obvious" ... I think its because I didn't slant it before)

    The font is Isadora Regular

I have no advice on your invite, but needed to point out that we have the same name :)
