Wii Fit Plus

My family "bought" one for Robert's birthday.

They actually didn't buy it because it's nowhere to be found, except Amazon where it's $60 more than normal! I don't blame anyone for waiting.

They printed the picture and put it in his birthday card.  :)  Hahaha, I love them.

Anyway, we all check randomly for it, and when someone finds one (even us) we're supposed to buy it.  I checked again this morning and it's sold out online.

What is the deal?  Is anyone else having trouble?  Why are they so scarce?

We picked one up in January for my Dad without a problem.  I just wish we would've bought two!

Re: Wii Fit Plus

  • It's in demand like that?  I had no idea.  Mr Stack had no problem finding me one for Christmas.  Maybe you can ask Best Buy, or Wal-mart or something what day they normally get their shipments in, and then go to the store that morning for one.
  • I don't know, but we had the same problem buying a Playstation 3 last month.  No one had them in stock and no one could tell us when they would get more.  Game Stop let us put down a deposit though, that way as soon as it came in, they called me and I went and picked it up.   Do you have any Game Stop stores near you?  Maybe see if you can put down a deposit.  If not Game Stop, whatever your local game store is, ask if they'll let you do that.

  • Dani, that's a great idea.  I'll have to check.  Yes, we do have a few nearby.

Stack, we've all gone EVERYWHERE and they do not have a set date to receive more.

I do remember hearing something about the fact that they're trying to do this on purpose so it keeps being in demand and keeps the value higher.  It's really freaking obnoxious though.

We bought my Dad one, no problem. TWO weeks later they go to get one for Robert and they can't be found.  It's nuts!
  • My FMIL bought me mine for Christmas from Amazon, and she didn't say anything about it being a problem...

Maybe go to a GameStop or another game store and ask them to take your number and hold one for you the next time they get a shipment, like Dani said.

  • I hate how they can just control the market like that - it's so annoying!

Also with Gamestop, people bring in used stuff all of the time and if you check there often you just might get a chance for a used one.  Especially with the demand being so high for them they know the people bringing them in know they'll get top dollar for them.  Mr Stack happened to be at a Gamestop when a crackhead (with his dealer in tow) was taking in an XBox360 to sell so he offered the guy $10 more then the store was going to offer him and he ended up getting a great deal on one.  LOL.
  • We got one for Christmas and they didn't have a problem finding it.

We're having the same problem with Wii remotes.  We need an extra regular remote and we also need a classic controller and we can't find them anywhere.
  • I got my Wii Fit Plus for Christmas with no problems. That's super random that they're scarce again (I remember there were supply problems at launch but that was last year ...) I'd say check stores you don't normally shop at. If you have K-Mart in your area give them a try, because they have a good gaming selection but no one ever shops there. The same thing happened to my coworker a couple years ago when he tried to buy a Guitar Hero bundle for his 360 about 2 months after the game was released but he eventually found it at K-Mart!

Also if you have any of those used CD/Game stores in your area they might have it too and you might be able to get it for cheaper than brand new.

I love mine and use it pretty much every day.

  • They are ALWAYS out of stock at H's store. They can't even keep them on the shelves for a day! I told him to keep an eye out for one for me, but I'd kind of like to hear a review of whether or not it's worth it first.

I don't play it as often as I'd like.  Key word being "play".  I know you're really into yoga stuff, and they have a nice big section for that, but I don't know the first thing about yoga so I don't know if it's good.  I like building workouts and doing them, but they're mostly just fun.  I wouldn't replace it with a trip to the gym or anything.

We do it for fun.  My parents have one.  It's just fun.  If someone actually uses this to replace working out or going to the gym, I just don't see it.

Basically, my siblings and I get really competitive and just try to beat each other's top scores.  Plus, it can look really awkward, like the hula hoop one is just silly  :)

<div>I love mine, Salt. Granted, you are probably in way better physical shape than me, but it kicks my asss. The nice thing is that I don't necessarily realize it's actually making me work out until I get out of bed the next morning and I can't move. Or even better, when I do something that normally takes my breath away and I realize that my heart hasn't even sped up this time. That happened this morning. Woot!</div>
  • We just bought it a few months ago, and just saw it this past weekend at a Walmart nearby

  • The Toys-R-Us here always has Wii stuff.  It's like people forget they sell video games and just don't look there.
  • It's in crazy demand.  I had to call around to 3 or 4 Targets to find it, but I found it.
  • Mother effer.  I guess I'll spend some time calling around after work or at lunch time.
  • Oh, and while some were completely sold out, the one I went to had 10 or 15 of them!
  • I've seen it at Target, but I haven't looked recently.
