where to look for Invitations?

I am finally up to ordering the invitations. I would rather not order online, unless I can see a sample. Any recommendations on places I can look into in the city? Thanks!!

You can go to bloomingdales and thumb through the books.  Then write down the company that makes it and the design number and check online for a better price :)

We ordered our invitations through Event Remembered Co.  We had orange/white wedding and had a hard time looking for something modern and at the same time, elegant.  Event Remembered deals with a company that makes fully customized invitations, therefore, you can have any color, style, ribbon, etc.  We had toooons of great feedback from our guests about them.  Contact them, www.eventremembered.com , they do full wedding planning but invitations is one of the items they do as well.
    Good luck :)

If you might be up for the personal experience of meeting with an invitation designer and seeing samples, I would suggest Petite Fete in Queens. She works with Spark invitations and this would allow you to see their samples in person before ordering either with her or online.

    We ordered ours at www.theamericanwedding.com
Beautiful invitations but a bit pricy. You can also check davidsbridal.com or vista print for simple elegant invitations.

I am lucky enough to have a friend who does custom design letterpress. I love his work and we're psyched to work with him.

He has a punk edge and is doing some cool non-traditional, elegant, modern work for us (tho he does straight up traditional too). He comes to your home with samples to discuss initial design ideas, discusses your needs, then sends a sort of "dream list" so you can hash out some key words you envision working with that he can put into the design. If there is a special symbol to you he can work it into the design, etc.

    He's at Giant Squid Press.

Try Invite and Write...they have a million options.  Also, wedding paper divas is great but be careful...we ordered our engagement party invites from them and didn't know until they arrived that they would have www.weddingpaperdivas.com actually printed ON the invitations.  Which was totally tacky.  I would have been mortified if that was on our wedding invite.  That was part of the reason I decided not to go with Ceci New York for our invites either... I don't feel like a wedding invitation should be a branding/marketing opportunity for a vendor...
