Gifts

What did you/are you getting for your bridal party? I know everyone says shop for them like it's their birthday, but I'm having difficulties, especially with gifts for our parents.

Re: Gifts

  • I am getting my girls pearl earrings and a pearl necklaces (not required to wear for the wedding btw) I don't know what FI is doign for the GM's. I am getting my mother a charm bracelet from Pandora (she's been eyeing it for months now lol) and nothing for my father (long story for another time) FI hasn't decided what to do for his parents yet, but we got 5 months to think about it. The best advice I can give is to shop like it was christmas or their b-days. And anything wedding related IMO is not a gift. GL

I usually buy my friends drinks for their birthdays, so I had trouble too.

I got my weird yet girly-girl MOH a stuffed musk ox and a gift card to sephora

I got my net-savvy movie loving BM a 3 wolf shirt and a gift card to AMC

I got my book-loving BM a necklace, a bookmark, and a Borders card.

So essentially I spent />15 on a small personal 'gift' and then gave them money.

We're only having a MOH and best man (still can't abbreviate that one). I bought MOH's shoes and necklace that she'll be able to wear with a dress she already has for the wedding. FI plans on buying the best man's cufflinks, and maybe shirt and/or tie.

EDIT: We don't plan on getting our parents gifts. They'll probably be the only ones getting Christmas gifts this year, as our wedding is 11/6 and we're paying for most of it ourselves.

  • Funny you should ask, I'm going to do this today!  At least start looking, that is.

I'm getting each girl a basket full of things that fit her personality/interests, etc.  For one of my BMs (for example) who likes to travel, I'm getting her a Coach passport cover and other travel-related items.  For the one who likes to knit, I'm splurging on some nice yarn for her and other knitting odds and ends.

  • I just found some super cute gray and yellow wristlets for the girls that they could (wouldn't HAVE to) use for the wedding. What would you think about those and then a nice bottle of wine and a fun wine glass?  (Wristlet) (Wine Glass)

The guys are actually taken care of and were pretty easy. The digital frame would be an awesome idea for all three sets of parents, so thanks for that Jesse!
  • I treated my MOH to a mani/pedi at one of the nicer spas in town,  I'm not sure what DH gave to his best man.  We also gave each of our moms photo books of wedding pictures that I did through Shutterfly.
  • we gave our parents sterling silver frames with our names and wedding date.  we gave our BM the token sterling silver flask (couldnt think of anything good for him) and our MOH got a VS gift card and a sterling silver keychain.
  • I haven't bought anything, but I have a rough idea of what I'm doing.

Our parents don't want gifts, so we will be writtig them letters.

MOH is very trendy and hard to shop for. I'll probably just take her shopping when she flies out.

BM (my sister) Super easy, something zebra print, like a handbag or something, and some other goodies

BM (FSIL) Super hard!! She can literally get herself whatever she wants, so I'm afraid of looking cheap. I'll probably get her like a certificate for a massage or something like that.

  • We didn't have a bridal party, but I bought the reader a silver necklace with a heart pendant.

And the traditional parent gift is a photo album.
The bride's parents traditionally get a full photo album of all the photos, but could prefer a smaller album with fewer photos of the bride's friends dancing and fewer photos of the groom's family.
The groom's parents traditionally get a smaller photo album, with the regular photos of the bridal couple and photos of the groom's family.
  • I got them all vintage-inspired aprons by Boojiboo on Etsy.

  • I got 3 of them cosmetic bags with their first names stitched on them. I also got them all earrings. For my SIL, I got her a Very Bradley wristlet. For my MOH/sister I got her a heart shaped compact mirror from TR engraved with a special message. I also go her a sister necklace.
