I do buy special salt. I'm not sure about epsom salts, but I think any iodized salt or even sea salt would burn. I get whatever they have in the Neti pot section at whole foods or sometimes pink himalayan sea salt from amazon.com. It's not that pricey - maybe $6 for a tub that lasts for a long time.
