Second bridal shower...first wedding

So I recieved an invitation to a bridal shower yesterday for a friend of mine who is engaged for the second time.  Her first marriage never happened (long story but basically her FI was arrested for sleeping with a prostitue and dealing cocaine 2 months before their wedding...definetely caught us all by surprise!  He was the principal of the local high school!)  Anyways...since she was so close to her wedding the first time, she had a shower.  She got so many gifts and alot of really nice things.

Well, after the first marriage fell through, she moved into her own house and uses all the gifts.  Nothing wrong with that I suppose, I mean i dont exactly know what else she would have done with them.  Well, on the invitation it mentioned her registry and I went on to check it out.  She has asked for all of the same things all over again...including a second $600 vacuum and china set.  Her last shower was only a year ago and I have been to her house and know she still has the first vacuum and we eat off the china everytime I'm there for dinner.  There isnt anything she got from the first shower that she doesnt still have.  And everytime we are over her house, she feels the need to point out everything she got from the first shower and laugh about how funny of a situation that turned out to be (funny?...i didnt think so.  More like sad and disturbing).

It just seems to me that its a little rude and gift-grabby to be asking for a whole other shower and the same gifts all over again when she still has the same ones that work perfectly dine.  I already planned on getting her something small, probably new towels since we just remodeled her bathroom over Christmas break but I'm curious what you guys think of this.  If your first engagment was a flop, would you re-register for the same gifts you already recieved?  Would you register for different items, or do a smaller registry?  Just thought this would spark a nice discussion....
