Top of the Tower restaurant as wedding venue?

Hi everyone,

I live in Canada and am planning to come to NYC for my destination wedding. I've come across the Top of the Tower restaurant at the Beekman Hotel, which has quoted me a really great price. The wedding is going to be small - maybe 25 to 35 people and I'm on a tight budget, so I'm finding that if we do the wedding during the day rather than in the evening, it tends to be less expensive. Since I won't be able to go to New York until the week of the wedding (December 27th, 2012), it makes it kind of hard to judge what this place might be like. If anyone has been there and can give me an idea about what to expect that would be really helpful.

Also - I've seen some negative reviews online with regards to the food at this place, but that doesn't really bother me - although if it's completely unedible that would be an issue. I'm really more interested in whether this place is actually as nice as far as the views go, as how pictures make it look.

One more thing - has anyone ever heard of or worked with Kool Events? They're a wedding planning agency that works for free - but I'm alittle worried about the legitimacy of it.

  • Well, I think it's a nice location. But u should really have someone who lives here that you know go there and eat and then let you know. Maybe also take pics form you so u can truly see the site. Also for cake I found a place that does fake cake with a real section for cutting and feeding rituals. So cheap. And dresses there are rentable ones and also if you go to www.gowns.com they have 99.00 wedding dresses. Florist u can do yourself, have a friend go to a corner bodega and but roses ect cheap, put in vases and u have centerpieces. Hope that helps.
  • The views from top of the beekman tower are stunning.  We often go there for drinks and views, but know nothing about the food.  A little history: before the big gold trump tower was built in front of the Beekman, you could see all of manhattan from there, chrystler building, empire state. While all that's gone now because of Trump, views in other directions, north and over East River, are still beautiful, especially at night.
  • Awesome! Thanks for the info ladies :)
