Rum and Coke?

Originally, I was just going to offer beer and wine as the only alcohol.  Then I started thinking about it and I really wanted to add a signature drink.  My mother is paying for the alcohol and said it is okay to add one signature drink.  She suggested rum and coke.  I think it sounds kind of strange for a signature drink.  What do you think?  I might be biased because my alcohol of choice is vodka.

I think they are delicious, but not really a special signature drink...

Usually when I think of a signature drink, I think of something creative and special that has something to do with the couple. Rum and Coke is so...blah.

Nothing against rum and coke, but I agree that it isn't signature drink worthy.

I think that was my thinking too.  My favorite drink is cranberry and vodka (fi doesn't drink so he's not a factor) but my mom said she doesn't think that too many people will like that.  She claims that rum and coke is popular and the Latino community and will be a crowd pleaser with our guests.

Maybe you could take the general rum and coke idea and put some sort of cool spin on it to make it a little more meaningful?

Rum and coke is kind of my "I'm at a bar and don't know what to order" drink.
I am allergic to vodka though so while your second choice sounds yummier it would not end well for me.

Rum & Coke is my "I'm home and want a drink but I don't want to make anything" drink. I love it, but it's not a signature drink. That said, I'm going to have one right now! Big bottle of Bacardi awaits!

yea i think a segnature drink should be something not so original. like something that kinda goes with your colors.... or just something the both of ya'll enjoy

What about some variation on the mojito.  It has the rum, and you can mix in some sort of juice to match whatever theme or color you want.

I recently went to a wedding that had a unique take on the rum and coke...it was cherry coke, rum, chocolate covered cherries, and chocolate shavings for the garnish. Sounds gross, but they were actually delicious...and it just proves that you can spice up a rum and coke REALLY easily!

It is not a sig drink but I think it would be a drink that more people would like. I hate frufru sweet drinks. Rum and diet coke or Crown and diet coke and I am a very happy girl.
