Depends on what alcohol you get, but I believe it tends to run around $45 pp for a three course meal. Personally, I just do cheese and chocolate, best part of the meal anyway.
FI and I are staying in that night. Kind of boring, but V-Day falls on a Sunday this year, and he can't make other people work on Sundays. :-/
We actually don't celebrate. We're not V-day haters, we just couldn't care less. Melting Pot probably has a price fix menu that night. I think Fish is pretty close wth her guess of $150 with alcohol. You could probably save and avoid a super crowded restaurant by celebrating the next day, if you're open to that.

They do a couples night out thingy jobber, which is the best deal. You get all the courses that way. Add in a bottle of wine or two, and it's anywhere from 150 to 175.
Yeah, depending on what you want to eat and how many drinks you want, it could def be up to like $150. We also usually just go for cheese and chocolate and with a drink or two I think it normally runs us about $45 or so. They also have menus on their website, so that helps.

Last year we went to melting pot, it was 200 bucks each couple. I only had 2 drinks I think. LOTS of food though! But no take home. And you don't get many options, it's the special menu just for V day, so there's like 2 things to pick from.
We're going to downtown Houston on a double date with my sister and her FI. We did it last year and really enjoyed it, so we're doing it again this year.
I would say that based on the prices I've seen for TMP before, I think that Fishy's probably about right.
Oh, I just checked. The Ahwatukee location has a $150 package with a 4 course meal, framed photo, a love quiz and pretty decorations. No booze. They may or may not have the regular menu open on V-day. Every restaurant I've ever worked at slimmed their V-day menu down to only a few selections.

No clue what we're doing for Valentine's day. I leave that up to Cory. Usually a fancy dinner so I can dress up and the usual chocolates and jewelry. I'm a low-maintenance kinda gal.
The Melting Pot is *great* but freakin' expensive.
We went there for NYE. They had a price-fixed menu of $160/couple. That is without drinks. My head is still spinning from the bill we paid at the end. Our meal did include a glass of champagne, so the Valentine's Day special may be slightly different, but I'd still guess it won't be cheap.
We were going to go to Phoenix that weekend, because its Presidents Day, but since I don't have Monday off we'll probably go to Phoenix some other weekend and just go out to one of our favorite restaurants the weekend instead, though not necessarily on valentine's day.
What is this Melting Pot that I keep hearing about?
I have no clue as to our plans. I have such a big surprise planned for Nick's birthday (in April) that I haven't given any thought to much else at this stage!
We never usually do much for valentines day, we normally just stay home and have a nice meal - Ill probably splurge on a nice dinner at home and spend some time together watching a nice movie. We arent really a "go out to celebrate" type of couple and we dont have the money right now for gifts, so thats enough. Our 6 year anniversary is the next day too, so it will be special none the less!
I think I'll just go with a third year running of my LDR Valentine's Day tradition - drink a bottle of wine by myself and then pass out in the closet. On the plus side, if I get that fellowship for next year, this may be the last year I have to do this!
Meanwhile, I'm out in Milwaukee now, so I'm trying to convince FI that we should designate some day during the last week of January as Valentine's Day, get a bunch of hearts and flowers decorative stuff and have a romantic dinner at home. He seems to be warming to the idea, and I think I'm going to use it as an excuse to buy this awesome Valentine cake stand I saw at Target yesterday.
I've realized that I think the reason I like Valentine's Day so much is that my favorite colors are pink and red. I just like decorating for Valentine's Day.
No idea on the Melting Pot, sorry. I'd like to go there myself sometime if FI and I can ever afford it.
Hm, I don't know. Last year we went to a high end restaurant in Modena named MoFo (haha, seriously) and we had an awesome dinner. I don't think we'll do that this year. I think the reason H took us there was because he jacked up considerably the ear before. lol
Hahaha fische! See, I'm concerned about a slimmed down menu as T is super picky (although as long as there is plain chicken or steak we'd probably be ok) I'll probably just give them a call. I've never been and I really, really want to go. I found out though we could spend the night at a nice scottsdale hotel and have dinner for $260 So..$100 more.
Sun - The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant. You get three courses:
cheese fondue (yum!) with veggies and bread and fruit dinner: cooking style of frying or broth with lobster, steak, veggies, chicken, shrimp, etc... dessert: chocolate fondue with marshmallows, cheesecake, strawberries, etc..

It's a chain of restaurants where you eat things fondue style.
Sarah, you knotting on Valentines day is always entertaining if nothing else. :hugs!:
I like the melting pot all right. It's good food and a fun experience, but if we're going to spend that kind of money on a dinner, I'd much rather head to an awesome steak house (manny's or Morton's) or a nice Italian joint.
Now, if I go with my girlfriends, MP is perfect for that.
I think if it's your first time to MP, I'd wait to go until the menu was open and not go on VDay.
We went to Melting pot on V day four years ago. The menu was very short & more expensive then normal. We got junk (a picture of us in a cheap frame & a single flower). Plus the place was very crowded & I felt rushed. Now I normally like Melting pot, but most nice expensive places get nasty/ crowed/ & get extra expensive on V day. Which is why we get lobster & steak at the meat/ seafood store & cook a fancy/ special dinner at home. Plus we can get drunk & extra sexy during dinner & not worry about heading home.
ahhhh... sounds fantastic! I am yet to experience a cheese fondue. I was thinking I might make one for our zombie dinner party (aka 'puss' fondue, anyone? :P), but I don't know what cheese to use as yet.
So to clarify, at Melting Pot you don't do fondue for the mains? Do they cook the mains at your table (aka korean BBQ style)?
Ooh we do have a Mortons, but I was just there for Christmas. I like trying new places. I'll keep looking. Honestly, Valentines day is one of my favorite holidays, I like to go all out...cheesy but meh. Last year we just stayed in and while it was nice I'd like to do something this year.
Re: Valentines day/ The Melting Pot
Scott always plans VDay and I never know until the day of what we're doing, so we shall see! He does an awesome job.
