how soon to advertize your relationship status

i am getting married in december and have found some cute shirts with "bride" written on them. when is it appropriate to wear them?

Re: how soon to advertize your relationship status

  • Probably the week before your wedding. :)
  • Yeah I bought a Bride hat the day I bought my wedding dress and wore it a lot the next week.... people thought I was nuts, lol. I was like... Oh, my wedding is in 8 months...
  • I'd wear it as soon as you feel comfortable. FI bought me one of those sexy little bride hoodies and gave it to me the day he proposed. Although I don't wear it constantly, I do wear it once in a while like when doing wedding related stuff.

  • I'd wrinkle my nose at you unless it was like... the day of, before, or maybe two days before your wedding.

Posted by lbmcmurray[/QUOTE]

To answer your question: since when does a person's relationship status require public 'advertisement'? This just seems completely bizarre and ridiculous to me. Do you not have more to define yourself on publicly than the fact that you're getting married? I get being excited to be married to a FI who you obviously think is amazingly awesome, but I just don't get why in God's name anyone would want to walk around (suffice at a specifically WR event such as a bach party) announcing your upcoming wedding to strangers via t-shirt.

  • Just don't wear it while traveling to your honeymoon. About 1/2 the women on our plane to Maui had some variation of "Bride", "Just Married", etc. on some piece of clothing. In mass, it makes everyone look pretty ridiculous.

Repeat this to your self: My Wedding Party is made of my family and friends and I should treat them as such.

    Agree completely.
  • April 31 is the perfect day to do that. If you can't wait that long, you could probably get away with it on September 31 and November 31, too.

You can wear it at your bach party and you can wear it the day of your wedding while you're getting ready. That's about it, IMO.

  • Skip the bride hoodie & t-shirt completely. I picked up two very inexpensive zipup hoodies (at Target, I think - they're Danskin) and took them to a local place that does embroidery, and had my married monogram put on them. Wore them starting the morning after the wedding & they're awesome. Since it's my monogram, and it's relatively small, it's not all BRIDE in your face but it was still fun to get to wear right after the wedding.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • I wore mine the day before the wedding while getting mani/pedis with the girls and the day of the wedding. I wouldn't have been caught dead wearing it any other time.

  • Why waste money on this at all? Everyone who knows you knows it's your wedding anyway. File under category "DUH."

  • thanks guys, about the defined relationship thing... i have been dating my hunny for 9 years, the fact that we are finally getting married, moving out of our respective parents homes and having a home of our own makes me want to stop everyone on the street and tell them.... dont' worry i promise not to.
