Re: OH GOD I CHANGED MY MIND!!

  • I fully intend on being selfish and immature, truly. *snort*

  • Hahaha. I think that ship has sailed, darling!

My childhood best friend got pregnant at 16. She called herself Tony the Tiger, because her stomach looked like it had tiger stripes. They faded quite a bit though.
  • I honestly had no idea it could be THAT bad.  No idea.  I have never seen such a thing in my life.

  • Me too, LC.  Me too.

I like being selfish.  My husband appreciates my lack of stretch marks too.  :P
  • They're not all that bad, Kiki.

I already have a funky little scar beneath my belly button from an appendectomy, so I'm sure my stomach will look even more fun when I get KU. Weee!
  • I AM NOW TRAUMATIZED FOR LIFE!

With all honesty (and due respect to the ladies who are with child), bare pregnant belly pictures skeeve me the frack out.  Seriously, I now wish I hadn't clicked on that link.  It's not the scarring.  Hell, I have a Frankenstein torso thanks to a breast reduction and hysterectomy.  But the bellies make me cry.

*Now goes to look at pictures of recent trip to get the bad images out of brain*
  • Yeah...um...I've never had a baby, but I've got some serious stretchmarks on my belly. I gained 50 lbs in 3 months when I started college. Its bad. I should go show it off on that thread lol.
  • Oh lord. I'm in the camp of I knew it could be bad, but hell.

  • Wow they may have made me change my mind on wanting kids too.

  • All the pictures are Red X's for me, thank God.

As long as Kate Gosselin's not posting in that thread...
  • I think preggo bellies are beautiful, stretch-marks and all - but I'm a wierdo like that.  :)

I think if you are vigilant with the anti-stretchmark cream throughout the pregnancy you can avoid much of it - but I was too lazy.

LDY, I'm right there with you.*  My stomach is already hideous.  I'm sure it will look just as bad if not worse than anyone else's when I get KU.

*ETA with the stretch marks on my belly.  Not saying that your stomach is hideous.  Just that mine is.

  • A friend of mine described her stretch marks as "It looks like I was attacked by a rabid racoon... from the inside."
  • Kikibot - she had twins.  I promise you I don't look like that.  I'm chubby, sure, but I don't have the hanging layer like that.  And stretch marks? Well, I already had some to begin with so a few more aren't too bad.

  • You should see my mom's. My youngest brother (out of the three of us) was 11lbs 4oz, and she looked like she was carrying one of those big exercise balls under her shirt. Her stretch marks look like big thick scars. That and her stories about how godawful labour was with all three of us make me never want to have kids.
  • I just saw one of my friends who has a 5 week old...not only does her stomach look completely normal, but she's down 5 lbs from her pre-pregnancy weight!

Judging by my sisters' pregnancies...I won't be so lucky.  But I'm going to try to drink a crap ton of water, rub my belly with vitamin e (or whatever one is good for skin...I forget) for like a year before we decide to TTC.

  • Thanks.  That actually made me feel better.  :)
  • impslave! I also describe my boobs as "Franken-boobs" after my reduction. Heehee!
  • Maybe I will just stick to being a mama to furbabies... o.O

  • Kiki - I lost all of my pregnancy weight plus 10 pounds by about the 6 week mark. ( I gained the 10 pounds back but that's a different story.)  Anyway, I only gained 25 for the pregnancy. I was on the elliptical for half an hour EVERY morning until the last month or so when I just couldn't climb the stairs anymore.  As long as you're active and careful, you don't have to gain a lot.  The more you gain, the worse the aftermath.

  • I mean I have stretch marks too, but they're kind of tiny and white so you don't really see them. The worst marks I have are on my upper arms. Those I can be self concious about in certain shirts.

  • In all fairness, my mom didn't get a single stretch mark when she was pregnant.  It doesn't have to be that bad.  I hope.

I'm still traumatized by LC's description of the post-pregnancy body from the confessions thread, though.
  • I never knew it could be that bad either. I was feeling just the slightest hint of baby fever last weekend, I think this cured it.
