No Coats a No Go??

My FH and I are not very formal people.

We are planning on having our ceremony outdoors in January (dont worry, its Texas, so will probably be in the 70's). 90% of his groomsman are coming in from NY or are from NY, so the cold is nothing new to them.

Anywho, to help them save money (after all that travelling) we thought about having them wear black slack, black shirt and a pink tie (wedding colors black/white/pink damask)

Is this too informal for a 5pm outdoor wedding ceremony??

Tacky? Thoughts please!!

Sounds good to me! I'm not sure what your "style" is, but I've also seen cute pics with the boys in vests, or suspenders or a combination there-of.
My boys are wearing vests that we got for 24 bucks each, on clearance woohoo! We decided to do vests because we didn't want to "risk" the guests looking like the groomsmen in black slacks and white button ups.

ETA if you're having a formal affair, then I think it is too informal.
  • Etiquette-wise, I think you're good.

However, I've never been to Austin, but are you sure about that 70s thing in January?

A quick search said the average HIGH is about 60 and lows around 40...which sounds about right to me living in New Orleans.  We're definitely not usually in the 70s in January.   I would be more concerned about your guests (and YOU!) being really cold at an outdoor ceremony in the evening.
  • DH and the groomsmen did not wear coats or ties.. And they were in flip-flops.

We had our wedding at 5pm on a Saturday with a 3 course meal.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • We already agreed that if it drops into the 60's or below we will use the indor ceremony site :)

  • It's cold/chilly when you're used to 110, that's when. Think next time, kittycat.

Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
