Ceremony Seating

So, after reading through the etiquette Yay's and nay's, one of the things was have a seat for every person.... does that include the ceremony?  Our venue coordinator AND our caterer have been suggesting that we only put about 50 chairs out for our ceremony while there will be around 150 guests (about 20 in WP standing up front) .... They say because it will only be about 15 minutes this will be fine and to reserve the chairs for older guests.... but now after reading these I am thinking maybe they are wrong?
