OMG DRAMA!!!1!

I wish.  I'm bored at work and stuck here for another 5 hours.  Anyone around?

Re: OMG DRAMA!!!1!

  • I'm in and out.. have an hour to kill until I have to get ready for work. I keep thinking there should be something I should be doing, but we cleaned the entire apartment this weekend and I'm not embarking on a wedding project with only an hour's worth of time left. I don't have a lot left to do for the wedding anyway, which is awesome.
  • That is awesome.  The week before my wedding I had nothing left to do and I kinda didn't know what to do with myself.  It had been so hectic up till then.

  • That's actually my plan. I want to get everything done in the next 2 weeks so I don't have to panic the week before. As it is, I already know my MOH and I will be finishing the placecards in the few days before, I have an appt to get my hair cut & re-trialed, I have to get my ring cleaned, I feel like I'll have to babysit the picking up of tuxes. So I'll be busy enough as it is.

Programs got done this weekend (yaay!)... my big project now is the photo slideshow that FI is determined to have during dinner. I don't mind, but he wants to make it a full 30 minutes long and I am NOT doing that. So I've given him this week to narrow down his picture selection and I'm going to finish that next weekend. Whew.
  • Wow.  A thirty minute slideshow would be quite a task, unless you left each picture up for a really long time!  You could always have it repeat if he really wants it to be 30 minutes long.  People will be eating and will probably miss some the first time around.

  • Oh, we have so many pictures we could easily hit 30 minutes. We have several thousand pictures of just us, over the last 4 years since we met. The plan is to do 1 song of pictures of FI growing up, 1 song of me, and then 2 songs of us. With the songs we have picked out, that will be just a little more than 15 minutes. I'm happy with that.

I've tried explaining to him that nobody else cares about this as much as we do, and I'm afraid of boring people if we make it any longer. I think he's starting to come around.

I have an idea of what you should be doing... sleeping!  ;)

That would be my choice anyway.  I only got up early this morning to do my hair and makeup for my e-pics today, yay!

Bintme do you work the graveyard shift or are you in a completely different timezone?
  • Sorry to jump in so randomly, but I have some experience with this.  My FI created a slide show similar to what you're describing as part of his proposal.

He alternated pictures of both of us growing up, which everyone seems to like because they can compare us.  He also picked pictures where we're doing similar things (one where I'm dancing as a kid, one where he's dancing as a kid), so it made our childhoods seem very similar, which was sweet.

His slideshow had about 4 songs and I think about a hundred pics--it was about 15 minutes long.  I think that was plenty long--it was hard enough for me to sit through it and I'm in it.  But it came out beautiful and everyone likes (pretends to?) seeing it, so I think a shorter slideshow would be a nice touch at your wedding.
  • amysmomma- I'm unfortunately an early riser. Plus FI leaves for work at 5:00am. I just get up with him and deal with it. :)

npasquale- I might suggest that idea to him (alternating pictures of us)... we noticed by looking at these pictures that he and I both had the same haircut at around 4 years old. So that might be funny. Hehe.

15 minutes is absolutely my max. His argument is that they'll be eating dinner anyway, but I don't want to hold their attention hostage for any longer than that. Most of our guests will know the people they're sitting with and they'll likely want to chat.
  • AK, you have a good point.  Plus, we went to a wedding in June where they played a really cute slideshow of the B&G's relationship.  We watched because we were facing the screen directly, but a lot of people lost interest after the halfway mark.  I think their show was about 25 mins.
  • I'm here if anyone remains?
  • That's exactly what I don't want. We plan to have "our" section build up and have all of our favorite pictures of ourselves at the end, along with the Tim McGraw song "My Best Friend" (this was 2nd place for our First Dance song)... and I think it will be really special. It would be a shame if everyone lost interest before we got to that last part.

Oh, and don't worry - the other songs will be "fun." Not sappy like My Best Friend. LOL!
  • Hiya! How are you? It must be quite late there right now!

    Sounds great!  GL!
  • sun- Doing good! I'm under 3 weeks until this wedding and I'm ready for it to get here!! The waiting is starting to kill me. LOL! It's almost 7am here... I have to get ready for work in about 5 minutes. :) How have you been?
  • I'm well. Had a great productive day today. Day off tomorrow (weds is a public holiday and I worked today so that my usual Monday off was moved to Tuesday, so that I'd have a two-day break), so heading to visit my friend and then making dinner for friends, shall be fun. I am so very productive lately; spent hours upon hours yesterday in the garden. Finishing off the PhD is making me a very driven person, apparently!

Ohhh not long now for you! Glad you're relaxed!

  • Whew.  Actually had some work there for a bit.  Sorry for starting a thread then running away!

amysmomma- I'm in England, so regular work hours for me.

Hi to everyone that turned up in my absence!

  • I'm here. Got up about an hour ago. Procrastinating getting ready. This is the last week to get ready before school starts next Monday for us. I need to get my brain in work mode, but it just doesn't want to be there yet.
  • I leave this job in less than a month so I can't get my brain in work mode at all anymore.  It's like senior-itis in high school.  I am done with this place!

  • I am 39 days out (says that little thing that pops up when you log into the knot) and I still have to decide on flowers, finalize and print my programs, renew my ID so we can get our license, book our trip -- we procrastinate -- and various little projects for the reception. Some things I have to wait until all RSVPs are in as I can't print menu place cards until I know who's coming and what they want.

Today I'll be writing my thank you cards for my shower gifts. A few people I can be silly with, especially the woman that got us the ice shot glasses. And the girl that got us an ice-cube tray that makes guitar ice-cubes. Apparently it doubles as a baking tray so I can make guitar brownies!
