Mini Vent (NWR)

So. I got an e-mail today from a prospective grad school saying that I have been rejected for merit-based financial support.... no big deal, right?
Wrong.
I haven't even been informed as to whether or not I have been accepted into my program yet.

Heartwrenching. Feel like crap. So not only did I not get financial merit rewards, I'm still in limbo as to my acceptance/rejection.

The deadline for all my schools to notify me is April 1st.
9 days.
I'm dying.

  • I'm sorry!  What kind of program?

FWIW, I work in grad admissions, and we try really really hard to get decisions out as quickly as possible, but it's hard!  We don't do it to torment you, I swear!  Also, there's just not very much merit-based funding at the graduate level generally, especially as compared to undergrad and in a recession.  The competition for scholarships is really, really tough!

  • just stay sane :) 9 more days isn't a lot. try to keep busy....I hope you get in but if you don't, just remember. There is a reason for everything :) It'll all work out. Good luck
  • It was for the Higher Education Administration program at George Washington University. I really love higher ed and working with the students. Right now the aim is academic advising; the advisors in large colleges don't have the opportunities (or the care/dedication) to really think about what students want to do with their college experience, rather than what they need to do.
