I have a question, I'll try to make it make sense
We're having a smaller wedding (75 guests) outside at a winery in the poconos, which is about an hour and a half from where we live. The majority of our guests live within about 2 hours I'd say. The wedding is on a Sunday, we arranged to have it earlier in the day so that people could still go home that evening if they wish and it wouldn't be too late or dark or have to miss work on monday. (obv for OOT guests they may wish to stay over anyway). And there's no hard alchohol so I'm thinking there will be less heavy drinking anyway.
Anyway, we want to have a small rehearsal the day before. Just so everyone, esp the kids, have an idea where to stand and when to walk. And then we were going to order pizzas and give our wedding party gifts.
I I thought this should be held the night before at the venue (part of the contract we can use the place the night before to rehearse and they even suggested ordering pizza there). It would be nice to do it at the actual location. And me and rob need to be up there the day before anyway to drop off stuff for set up and check in to our hotel so we cna wake up up there. I figure a lot of the wedding party might want to stay over that night before anyway since we all have to be ready to go so early in th emorning.
My mom though offered to host a rehearsal at her house the day before. The thing is, it'd have to be more of a "lunch" since like i said, me and rob need to head up there on saturday. and it doesn't save people much driving. there are still people that would have to drive an hour or two whether it's at her house or the poconos. But she says i'm asking too much to have it at the location the night before and people either have ot stay over or go back and forth 2 days in a row. So is she right???? Because that's the way it's always been for all the weddings i've been a bm in. I either drove back and forth, or i stayed over that night at a hotel.
sorry for grammer mistakes, it's being wonky and i can't edit right.
edit: or i understand if people just can't make it of course.
