fortune cookie wording...

Wishing you good fortune in life,
From the new husband and wife.

You are somebody’s reason to smile

These are the 2 quotes we are thinking of using for our fortune cookies for our candy buffet.

Opinions please? Open to consider other suggestions!!

Also, do I have everything correct as far as Capitalzation and Puncation? I'm far from a english major ;)

Thanks in Advance!!

Re: fortune cookie wording...

  • I'm confused.  Are you having fortune cookies in your candy bar?  They aren't candy or even very much like a cookie.

  • The first quote is much better!

Oh FFS, semantics, much?  Don't be ridiculous.

OP, everything looks correct, and I like the first one a lot.

I've apparently missed the fact that this is a current trend.  I've honestly never heard of including fortune cookies and find it odd.  Maybe I'm missing something.

Edit: I just really don't consider them dessert I guess.

  • I kinda agree with Stage on this one.

However, I really like the first quote.  If you do that, can you put one at each person's plate similar to a favor.  Then people might not be expecting a random fortune, and could still enjoy the candy buffett.

I don't think the cookies HAVE to have a "real fortune" inside. I think the first quote is really cute. I agree with jmp, it might be nice to place a cookie at each place, but a bowl of them at the candy buffet is fine too.

Because having fortune cookies with the rest of it would just ruin it and people couldn't enjoy it then?  That's stupid.

Guys, this is sort of like that whole "programs are a waste of money and you're stupid for having them!!!" thing.  Who CARES what she puts on her candy buffet?  If she wants to spend the money for personalized cutesy fortunes and puts them on her candy buffet, so what?  Would you SERIOUSLY go to a wedding with fortune cookies on the candy buffet and say "Those a-holes think fortune cookies are CANDY?!  RUDE!!!"?

</div><div>Simmer down.  Only one person said she didn't consider them candy.  No reason to get your feathers ruffled.</div><div>
</div><div>The idea of putting them at the place settings is so they seem more personal with the message from the bride and groom, rather than just an other piece of candy at the buffet. Plus, it might keep someone from being surprised or something at the candy buffet  that they aren't "real" fortunes. </div><div>
</div><div>I love fortune cookies, and always end up eating several to see the fun fortunes, so if I picked up several on the candy buffet, I might actually feed bad about taking them from other guests once I realized that it was a personalized message.</div>
  • "You will get drunk and wake up in a random hotel room tomorrow"

"You will only be able to find one shoe in the morning"

But seriously, I like the idea of having them at the place settings.  Although I think it's perfectly fine to put them in the candy bar.  You'll definitely want some variety in the sayings because guests will likely share them with each other.

  • I like the first one.  Also, fortune cookies are my favorite dessert, so I love the idea of including them.
  • I agree with Andrea. I think it would be nice to have several different sayings since guests are going to end up comparing fortunes.

You could include the first two you came up with, along with things like:

"Thank you for sharing our day. Safe travels to you and yours."

"Love, luck, and happiness to you."
  • Thank you all!!!!

Being honest I never knew these cookies exisited until I got an Eversave about them! After reading all your posts and ideas, i am so excited to actuall order them!!!

We can put writing on both sides of the "fortune" so i was thinking about all the backs will say:
    Bride and Groom
    September 22, 2012

and then the "fortune" on the other side.

Also, we will have plenty( at least 2 per invited guest) so if some people take a couple more it will be ok!!

i hadn't even thought of putting one at each place setting....we may just do that!!!

Ok now that you've inspired me to do a few differnt "fortunes" i need ideas.

these are the others we orignally considered before we narrowed it down!!!

Once in a lifetime you meet someone who changes everything

Lean on each other’s strengths, forgive each others weaknesses

You are nothing that I ever expected and everything I ever dreamed….

Marriage is a relationship in which one is always right and the other is the husband

Nothing is Impossible, the word it’s self says I’m Possible!

  • Sounds like you've got a pretty awesome plan.
  • What about some lyrics from some special songs you are playing?
    image
  • ok so we can get them packaged in regular clear wrap or the normal traditional wrapper that has the chinese writing on them, which wrapper would look better?
(can you tell how well i make decisions!!)

[QUOTE]I'd go with the traditional wrapping to make the specialized message more of a surprise, but if it costs more, I think just the clear would be fine.

oooh good thinking, thats what we will do!!
